Customer Strategy & Planning is a strategic department in Customer Development functions. We ensure that marketing plans fit with channel/customer and shoppers’ needs in order to maximize the benefit for Unilever and our Customers. 

A Customer Strategy & Planning (CSP) Lead drives increased brand penetration and profitable sales volume with the customer. The job holder is responsible for driving trade marketing efficiency and effectiveness while continually looking for growth opportunities. The CSP Lead identifies all Brand, Market, and Customer business opportunities and risks through communication with the field sales organization. The CSP Lead maximizes the return on Unilever’s trade spend They analyse the brand strategies to ensure plans meet the market needs. 

The goal is always to advise, challenge and support your business partners to deliver consistent, competitive, profitable and responsible growth in both the short and long term. 

 

Main Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for BU Customer & Category strategy, called ‘Strategy & Insights’ leading to category growth and market share growth. 
  • Driving the BU ‘Operations and Planning’ activities such as NRM and S&OP leading to USG & Gross Margin improvement 
  • Category Growth Strategies  
  • Localise Global Category Growth Strategies with top markets 
  • Innovation 
  • Define innovation pipeline for Horzion 1 
  • Define NPD delivery targets at market level 
  • Share customer trends and needs with BG to be included in Horizon 2 and 3 plans 
  • Targets and Budgets 
  • Shape & align Commercial Plan with BU LT. 
  • Dynamic Funding Decisions across Markets 
  • Define in-year Channel Shift targets for markets 
  • Pricing & Promotions Mix 
  • Manage BU pricing and promo guard rails  
  • Define and deploy multi-channel pricing and promo strategy   
  • Execution 
  • Define BU execution standards at category / brand & customer level 
  • Capability 
  • Deploy core capabilities required to win by Market (e.g. Catman / Shopper / NRM) 
     

Candidate Criteria 

Experience & Qualification 

  • Master or Bachelor’s Degree. 
  • At least 8 years working experience in Channel & Category Development, Trade Marketing or Sales for FMCG industry. 
  • Prior Experience in Customer Business Development & Customer Strategy & Planning Role 


Skill 

  • Ability to work with people across various functions and levels. 
  • Strong analytical skills and business mind set. 
  • Strong in leadership and development skill. 
  • Strong in critical thinking and problem-solving skill. 
  • Strong communication and strategic influencing skills. 
  • Proactive, confident and able to work under high pressure. 
  • Good command in English and communicating with Leadership Team 
  • Be the main contact point for the Customer Development Director(s) for operational customer service issues.
