Histology Project Specialist

LabCorp is seeking a Histology Project Specialist to join our team at our lab in Tampa, FL.

 

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday with flexible start time: 7am - 9am.

Job Responsibilities

  • Training, teaching and giving lectures to students in our NAACLS Accredited Histology Education Program (24 hours)
  • 16 hours histology bench work
  • Develop and facilitate laboratory improvement projects
  • Create SOPs for both cytology and histology.
  • Review and resolve various laboratory audit reports.
  • Conduct inspections in the laboratory to ensure compliance.
  • Assist departments with training staff on LabCorp information systems and processes.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Histology OR a Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Histology, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology  with 3 or more years of histology experience
  • Florida State Clinical Laboratory Licensure is required
  • Histology and/or ASCP certifications 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6 months of Immunohistochemistry experience

Additional Job Standards

  • Familiarity with routine histology procedures and equipment
  • Comfortability embedding both large and small specimens
  • Ability to accurately read all labels and documents
  • Experience with laboratory information systems and laboratory processes
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, Visio and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Familiarity with laboratory SOPs and safety protocols
  • Able to pass a standardized color vision screen
