Job Description:
Responsible for development and review of detailed engineering designs, calculations, construction documents and specifications for assigned railway and highway transportation infrastructure projects. Analyze existing conditions and develop designs to support new construction and renovation projects related to tunnels, roadways, bridges, and streetscapes. Perform engineering design for horizontal and vertical alignments, grading, utility relocation, drainage, pavement marking, signaling, lighting, stormwater pollution prevention (SWPPP) and erosion sediment control (ESC) plans. Perform highway design, street design and civil heavy infrastructure designs in accordance with all applicable codes, government standards and project requirements, including AASHTO Green Book, AASHTO Roadside Design Guide, AASHTO Guide for Development of Bicycle Facilities, Highway Safety Manual and Highway Capacity Manual; Develop detailed traffic control plans using MUTCD; Manage sub-consultants, conduct site and field inspections monitoring budgets, schedules and quality, performing quantity take-off and cost estimating, draft reports and technical proposals, review of shop and working drawings, structure inspection and rating computations. Supervise, mentor, and provide training to junior engineers, reviewing work to ensure quality control and professional growth. Identify engineering challenges and propose innovative solutions to resolve problems efficiently and effectively. Coordinate and manage project deliverables; track and report on project progress; assist in developing schedules to meet project deadlines. Duties require extensive utilization of AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoTurns, Corridor design, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project Planner, Bluebeam. Requires approximately 5% travel time to project and client sites within Texas. Position based in Dallas, Texas; may work from home up to 2 days per week, subject to change at any time.
Requires Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, followed by minimum five years of progressive experience either in the duties of the position offered, or five years of progressive engineering experience in: design of highways, streets and civil heavy infrastructure, in accordance with AASHTO Green Book, AASHTO Roadside Design Guide, AASHTO Guide for Development of Bicycle Facilities, Highway Safety Manual and Highway Capacity Manual; planning transportation systems utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoTurns, Corridor design, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project Planner and Bluebeam; preparing cost estimates for equipment, materials, and labor; and developing traffic control plans using MUTCD.
Up to two years of required experience may be satisfied by a Master’s degree in civil engineering, with coursework in transportation planning and highway engineering. Position also requires Professional Engineer license for the State of Texas.
