Position Overview

KBR is seeking a Safety & Health Manager to lead all safety, health, and environmental (SHE) programs supporting NASA Wallops Range Operations. This role ensures compliance with regulatory and NASA standards, oversees workplace safety initiatives, conducts training, and supports incident prevention and response efforts. The Manager provides technical expertise, program leadership, training, and oversight to ensure a safe workplace for all contract and government personnel within the NASA Wallops Range Mission Management Office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implements and manages safety, heath and environmental (SHE) policies, procedures, and compliance activities across contract operations.
  • Conducts facility/equipment safety inspections, program audits, and incident investigations; tracks corrective actions.
  • Maintains OSHA logs, regulatory records, and environmental compliance documentation.
  • Provides technical interpretation of OSHA, EPA, ANSI, NFPA, ISO, and NASA standards.
  • Interacts with services personnel, clients, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies to research and interpret standards, codes and regulations.
  • Delivers a range of safety trainings (e.g., fall protection, CPR/First Aid, LOTO, electrical safety, respiratory protection, new hire safety orientations).
  • Supports workers’ compensation processes and collaborates with HR and contract leadership.
  • Presents safety metrics and leads regular safety meetings and committees.
  • Oversees exposure monitoring (noise, air sampling) and administer safety programs including PPE, crane/lifting, fall protection, and hearing conservation.
  • Reviews project designs and procurement activities for SHE compliance.
  • Maintains centralized safety resources and communications.
  • Under general supervision, solves complex problems requiring detailed knowledge of field and industry best practices. Uses experience and problem-solving skills to develop and improve processes.
  • May provide guidance to less experienced team members.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, Environmental Safety, or other related discipline is required. A master’s degree in a related field may be considered in lieu of a portion of the required experience
  • 6+ years of safety or environmental management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and related regulatory standards.
  • Experience in government, aerospace, or high‑risk industrial environments preferred.
  • Professional certifications (CSP, ASP, CHST, CIH) a plus.
