The salary range for this role, based in New York, is $194,400.00 to $243,000.00. The range will vary if outside of this location.  Base salaries are determined during our interview process, by assessing a candidate’s experience, skills against internal peers and against the scope and responsibilities of the position.

Position Overview:

The Head of Trade Marketing will lead and drive impactful trade marketing strategies to deliver best-in-class commercial plans and tools and maximize retail execution for Pernod Ricard USA. This role is pivotal in enhancing brand visibility and effectiveness at the retail level, ensuring that trade marketing efforts translate into tangible results.

In this role you will manage a team of approximately 40 people, including the following teams: trade marketing brand teams, marketing activation services, and trade advocacy and brand ambassadors. This role requires a dynamic leader who can navigate complex environments, drive strategic initiatives, and foster collaboration to achieve outstanding trade marketing results.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and lead the trade marketing strategy across on-trade, off-trade, and emerging channels.
  • Align trade marketing initiatives with brand priorities and commercial objectives.
  • Lead the development and execution of national programs, providing comprehensive trade marketing solutions.
  • Champion shopper and customer insights to inform strategy and execution.
  • Provide strong vision and 3-year roadmap for the function to build capabilities and expertise and become recognized as the leading trade marketing function within the industry.

Commercial Execution

  • Partner with Marketing and Commercial leadership to design and implement customer-specific programs that drive volume, visibility, and value.
  • Own the development of toolkits, POS materials, and activation plans tailored to channel and customer needs.
  • Support channel-specific activations and develop tailored point-of-sale tools to enhance marketing effectiveness across different channels and customer segments.
  • Monitor and optimize trade spend to maximize ROI.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Influence

  • Work closely with and foster collaboration with key stakeholders and partners, including Brand Marketing, Commercial teams, Finance, Supply Chain, Distributors, Retailers, Agencies, etc. to ensure seamless execution and maximize the impact of trade marketing efforts.
  • Influence senior stakeholders and contribute to strategic planning and business reviews.

Performance & Analytics

  • Establish KPIs and measurement frameworks to assess program effectiveness.
  • Leverage data and insights to refine strategies and drive continuous improvement.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, inspire, and develop a team of trade marketing professionals
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Build succession plans and talent development to ensure long-term team strength.

Key Skills & Experience

  • 15+ years of experience in trade marketing, commercial strategy, or brand activation, ideally within the spirits, beverage, or FMCG industry.
  • Ability to foster a culture of innovation and manage resource constraints efficiently.
  • Proven success in leading large teams and managing complex initiatives.
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of channel dynamics.
  • Expertise in shopper marketing, category management, and promotional planning.
  • Experience working with key accounts, distributors, and retail partners.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and performance tracking.
