In this position, you will work for the Julius Baer Foundation (JBF) and will be responsible for leading all grant programmes in the area of wealth inequality, which has been designed by Management and approved by the Board of Trustees. You will deputize for the Foundation’s CEO and be a public face of the Foundation in the philanthropic sector and with bank clients and other donors.Expert in the topic of ‘Wealth Inequality’:
Proven and credible experience in the topic of wealth inequality, ie knows, can explain and present different theories, measurement systems (Gini, Palma Ratio, etc.) and research models (M. Norton, T. Piketty, J. Stiglitz, etc.) related to the topic of Inequality and in particular of Wealth Inequality
Understands and deepens approach with which Julius Baer Foundation (JBF) wants to contribute to decrease the gap between different socio-economic classes in specific industries or countries
Identifies, visits and develops new Wealth Inequality (WI) proposals and ensures that the projects become role models for a sector, a region or a specific group of people
Represents JBF on Wealth Inequality think tanks, platforms and conferences
Programme Management:
Manages, together with small team, JBF’s Wealth Inequality partners and projects
Runs calls for proposals, due diligence, evaluation and monitoring of all projects
Develops all grant agreements, including milestones and KPIs
Oversees impact measurement and external evaluations
Client and Donor Engagement:
Initiate and manage relationships with client and other donors to the Foundation to develop funding and knowledge partnerships
Collaborate closely with client advisors, wealth planners and other BJB functions to effectively engage clients in philanthropy and the topic of wealth inequality
Represent the Foundation at client events
Representation and Communication:
Represent the Foundation in Bank and industry events, including panels, conferences and industry bodies
Develop thought leadership and initiatives to increase impact of JBF
Lead and participate in communications activities
Contribute to growing the industry profile and visibility of the JBF
Leadership and Management:
Deputize for CEO internally and externally
Support in leading Foundation from a strategy, governance and board perspective
Regular engagement with board members, ExB members, market heads, senior leaders of the bank
Manage small team including all budgetary and HR issues
Holds a Master's or PhD in one of the following areas: Economics, Sociology, International Development or Development Studies
Experience at a research institution, foundation or NGO on the topic of Wealth Inequality or a closely related topic
Previous experience in a corporate environment preferred
Has a strong ambition to position topic of ‘Wealth Inequality’ in a Private Bank
Experience managing international grant programmes and partnerships
Experience engaging HNWIs and/or donors
Good knowledge about and a broad network in the research, international development or civil society community
Able to translate complex (research) facts into compelling language
Team leadership experience
Writes and speaks (near)native English. Other languages, especially German, Spanish and/or Portuguese are an advantage
Lived or significant professional experience in a country affected by wealth inequality
Is willing to travel to international project locations, conferences and Julius Baer offices
