State Street Investment Management (SSIM) is seeking a senior leader to serve as Head of Client Contracting & Onboarding Management (North America), with a clear mandate to lead and evolve the Investment Management onboarding and contracting agenda across the region. This role is accountable for end‑to‑end client contracting and onboarding execution for institutional investment management clients, while also setting strategy, building scalable operating models, and developing a high‑performing team.

Building on the established scope of the Head of North America Client Contracting & Onboarding Management, VP III role, this position places increased emphasis on Investment Management products, front‑to‑back contracting and onboarding integration, and people leadership across North America.

The Head of Client Contracting & Onboarding Management sets the tone for client experience, operational excellence, and talent development across one of SSIM’s most critical client lifecycle functions.

Organizational Context

The Head of Client Contracting & Onboarding Management sits within SSIM’s Client Coverage Group and partners closely with Distribution, Relationship Management, Investments, Operations, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Technology, and global onboarding and contracting teams. The role owns the regional execution of global onboarding and contracting standards, while adapting to North American regulatory, client, and product requirements.

This person will report directly to the Global Head of Sale Infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Regional Ownership

  • Own and continuously enhance the North America client contracting and onboarding operating model for Investment Management clients, aligned to global standards and local regulatory requirements.
  • Act as the senior regional authority for complex onboarding, restructuring, and contracting initiatives tied to strategic institutional relationships.
  • Partner with global counterparts to drive consistency, risk discipline, and best‑practice adoption across regions.
  • Champion automation, process simplification, and technology enablement to improve speed‑to‑market and client experience.

Investment Management Contracting & Onboarding Execution

  • Lead end‑to‑end onboarding and contracting for North America Investment Management clients once a mandate is awarded or a restructuring is initiated.
  • Oversee client agreements, product documentation, regulatory onboarding, and operational readiness across asset classes including Equity, Fixed Income, and related investment strategies.
  • Ensure robust governance, risk management, and control frameworks are embedded across all onboarding and contracting activity.
  • Serve as escalation point for complex client, product, or regulatory issues impacting onboarding or contracting outcomes.

Stakeholder & Client Partnership

  • Build and maintain senior relationships across Client Coverage, Investments, Operations, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Technology, and State Street enterprise partners to ensure seamless execution.
  • Support Client Relationship Managers and Account Executives by mobilizing onboarding and contracting strategy at internal governance forums.
  • Represent North America in global forums focused on client onboarding, contracting, and lifecycle management.

Team Leadership & Talent Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a regional team of onboarding and contracting leaders and practitioners across North America.
  • Set clear objectives, performance standards, and development paths to build a scalable, resilient organization.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and client‑first thinking.

Governance, Delivery & Continuous Improvement

  • Own pipeline management, capacity planning, and prioritization of onboarding and contracting demand across North America.
  • Define project scope, governance, milestones, and success metrics for complex client initiatives.
  • Ensure projects are formally closed with lessons learned captured and embedded into future execution.

Skills & Capabilities

  • Proven executive‑level leadership experience within asset or investment management onboarding, contracting, or client implementation functions.
  • Deep understanding of Investment Management products, asset classes, and institutional client models.
  • Strong stakeholder influence skills with the ability to operate credibly with senior leaders and regulators.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large, complex initiatives while maintaining a strong risk and control mindset.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and decision‑making skills in fast‑paced environments.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • CFA designation a plus.
  • 14+ years of experience in Financial Services or Asset / Investment Management.
  • Prior experience leading regional or global onboarding, contracting, or implementation teams within an institutional sales or client coverage environment.
  • Formal project or change management certification (e.g., PMI, PRINCE2) preferred.

Salary Range:

$110,000 - $207,500 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
