The purpose of this role is to strategically manage and develop a profitable portfolio of insurance products in alignment with the business plan. This involves providing leadership in product strategy, pricing, and portfolio management, while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. The role also includes driving profitable growth, managing resources effectively, and overseeing the country's P&L for designated business lines within the organisation.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate direction of underwriting business plan to team in order to achieve delivery of business objectives​
  • Manage resource, motivate, develop and focus the team(s) to maintain required standards of performance and engagement​
  • Establish and strengthen strong relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally, including cedants and brokers​
  • Underwrite and delegate the Underwriting of Reinsurance risks to meet business objectives including: Negotiating rates, terms, and conditions for existing and new business​
  • Managing production and issue of contract certainty documentation​
  • Ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations and guidelines​
  • Deliver on an annual business plan for the underwriting business area​
  • Monitor and report on progress​
  • Keep abreast of market dynamics and demonstrate market cycle awareness to be able to operate effectively​
  • Communicate risk appetites to underwriting teams, in accordance with the business plan​
  • Establish clear accountabilities and authority levels for direct reports and build a strong culture of performance and accountability to ensure delivery of goals

Work Experience:

Necessary Work Experience includes:

  • Significant relevant reinsurance experience.
  • Experience leading teams.

Qualifications:

Necessary Qualifications include:

  • Tertiary Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
