LGT

Head of Financial Crime Risk

Sydney Full time

LGT Wealth Management was formed around a clear and uncompromising vision – to bring global best practice in building institutional quality investment portfolios to Australian clients.

With a shared passion for building an uncompromised business – we created something new from the ground up. A chance to leave behind the things that weren’t working, while enhancing the things that were. Our authentic and personalised client-first commitment. Our entrepreneurial spirit. Our focus in best-in-class advice. And our intimate understanding of the Australian private wealth landscape.

In 2022 we became a part of the LGT Group, who shared our entrepreneurial spirit, long-term approach and private-ownership model. Today, with the global expertise, stability, and capability of LGT behind us, we can work without being reliant on markets or margins, with a singular focus on giving our clients the advice and deep expertise they need for generations to come.

About the Opportunity

LGT Wealth Management is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Head of Financial Crime Risk to lead our Financial Crime function in Australia. This role will shape the strategic direction and operational execution of Financial Crime Risk across the business.

This is a critical leadership opportunity where you will define policy, enhance frameworks, engage with regulators, and work closely with global counterparts across the LGT Group. You will lead a specialist team, influence executive‑level decision‑making, and ensure LGT Wealth Management continues to uphold the highest standards of AML/CTF, sanctions, fraud, and anti‑bribery/corruption management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Financial Crime Risk strategy across AML/CTF, sanctions, fraud and anti‑bribery/corruption, providing expert advice to the CRO, CEO, Executive Committee and Board.

  • Own and maintain LGT WM’s AML/CTF Policies and Procedures, ensuring alignment with Group expectations, AUSTRAC requirements, and LGT’s risk appetite.

  • Oversee day‑to‑day Financial Crime operations including client due diligence, transaction monitoring, suspicious matter reporting and assurance activities.

  • Act as the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) regulatory contact for AUSTRAC and other regulators, coordinating reviews, audits, responses and remediation activities.

  • Drive continuous improvement through data, analytics, automation and technology uplift to strengthen controls and streamline processes.

  • Lead and develop the Financial Crime team while championing a strong Financial Crime culture, delivering training, and overseeing investigations into breaches and incidents.

About You

You are an accomplished senior Financial Crime leader with deep experience in AML/CTF and Financial Crime Risk within financial services — ideally including wealth management. You bring strong judgement, technical expertise, and a collaborative leadership style that enables both robust risk management and commercial outcomes.

You will bring:

  • 12+ years’ experience across AML/CTF, sanctions, fraud or Financial Crime within financial services or a regulatory environment.

  • Strong expertise in Australian AML/CTF and sanctions laws, with proven experience designing and overseeing Financial Crime frameworks in complex businesses.

  • Demonstrated capability leading Financial Crime or compliance teams, with experience managing resources and coaching specialists.

  • Strong knowledge of risk and compliance frameworks, including the three lines of defence, and experience engaging senior stakeholders and Boards.

  • Excellent communication skills and confidence presenting complex risk matters clearly to senior forums.

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., ACAMS or equivalent), with post‑graduate studies in Risk, Law or Business highly regarded.

You are analytical, commercially minded and comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, evolving regulatory landscape — with the ability to prioritise, influence and drive meaningful uplift.

Why You’ll Love This Role

  • Shape a critical function and define the future of Financial Crime Risk for a growing wealth management business.

  • Operate at executive level, influencing the CRO, CEO, Board, and global LGT Group stakeholders.

  • Join a values‑driven culture that prizes trust, long‑term thinking, collaboration, and excellence.
