About the role
Be part of the Aboriginal Health Unit team, supporting research projects with a focus on addressing the health needs of First Nations people and the provision of equitable healthcare services.
Collect research data from medical records, interviews, and surveys
Assist with the recruitment and consent process for study participants.
Conduct in-depth interviews and focus groups with Aboriginal patients and staff
Assist with the preparation of research findings for publication
Help prepare research funding proposals
Perform ad-hoc duties as directed by your Manager, who is the Health Equity Project Manager
About You
Identify as being of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background
Tertiary qualifications in health sciences or equivalent research experience in healthcare. Postgraduate research qualifications (e.g. MPH, MSc, PhD) are highly desirable
Understand ethical research principles of confidentiality and privacy
Able to communicate effectively with health professionals, patients, and carers
Good ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines
Work effectively in a team while being able to operate independently with minimal supervision
Experience in health equity, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health research, or culturally safe research methodologies, desirable
