We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Head of Finance Operations to lead and optimize our core financial transaction processes, including Accounts Receivable (AR), Billing, and Payroll. This transformational role will be responsible for driving efficiency and optimisation of processes whilst ensuring accuracy, and compliance of all operational finance activities and building a high-performing team. The successful candidate will be a strategic leader with a strong operational mindset, capable of implementing best practices and leveraging technology to scale our finance operations effectively.

What you’ll be doing:

Strategic Leadership & Management:

  • Develop and execute the strategic vision for Finance Operations, aligning with the overall finance and company objectives.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team across AR, Billing, and Payroll, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for all operational finance functions, driving performance excellence and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with other finance leaders (e.g., Financial Planning & Analysis, Treasury, Tax) and cross-functional departments (e.g., Sales, HR, Legal, IT) to ensure seamless financial processes and data flow.
  • Identify opportunities for process automation, standardization, and optimization across all finance operations functions.
  • Lead the selection, implementation, and optimization of financial systems and tools (e.g., ERP modules, billing platforms, payroll systems).
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of finance operations policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy across all financial operational systems.

Accounts Receivable (AR) & Collections:

  • Support the team leader in oerseeing the end-to-end AR process, from invoicing to cash application and collections.
  • Implement and optimize credit control policies and procedures to minimize bad debt and improve cash flow.
  • Develop and monitor AR aging reports, ensuring timely follow-up on overdue accounts.
  • Drive initiatives to automate and streamline AR processes for greater efficiency and accuracy.

Finance Systems:

  • Support the team in working with the function to develop the long-term finance systems roadmap
  • Oversee the day-today operation, support and maintenance of the ERP but also ensure the correct prioritisation of improvement and development projects with the Corporate IT team
  • Oversee a robust system control environment, ensuring the controls are appropriately designed, implemented and operating effectively
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement and automation using system capabilities to increase efficiency and data accuracy

Billing:

  • Support the head of the billing function, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant invoicing for all revenue streams.
  • Collaborate with sales, legal, and product teams to ensure contracts are accurately reflected in billing systems and revenue recognition policies.
  • Identify and implement improvements to the billing process, including automation and integration with other systems.
  • Ensure adherence to revenue recognition standards (e.g., IFRS 15).

Payroll:

  • Support the head of payroll to oversee the accurate and timely processing of multi-country/multi-state payrolls, ensuring compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations.
  • Manage relationships with external payroll providers and internal HR teams. 
  • Ensure proper reconciliation of payroll accounts and accurate reporting of payroll-related expenses.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline and automate payroll processes whilst ensuring a robust system of internal control.

Who you are:

  • Extensive experience in finance operations, with experience in a leadership role managing AR, Billing, and Payroll functions.
  • Systems-savvy, with hands-on experience using Unit4 or a comparable ERP, and a keen interest in evolving finance system architecture
  • Passionate about continuous improvement, digital tools, and modern finance practices and proven experience executing change in a fast paced organisation 
  • Lives by our values and constantly thinks about putting the customer first - whether that is external or internal stakeholders 
  • Deep expertise in designing, implementing, and monitoring robust internal controls over financial transaction cycles (AR, AP, Billing, Payroll) to ensure audit readiness, minimize risk, and maintain compliance with SOX/internal control frameworks.
  • Highly analytical and data-driven, capable of using operational KPIs and financial metrics (e.g., DSO, DPO, invoice-to-pay cycle time, payroll error rates) to identify bottlenecks, drive actionable insights, and justify investment in process and system improvements.
  • Proven track record of managing and optimizing multi-country/multi-currency finance operations, demonstrating a thorough understanding of global regulatory compliance, including international tax withholding and statutory payroll requirements.
