Macquarie University Hospital is embarking on a multi-faceted Electronic Medical Record (EMR) program, a transformative initiative designed to enhance the delivery, experience, and optimisation of clinical care across the organisation.

This is a pivotal opportunity to step into a high-impact transformation leadership role with end-to-end accountability for ensuring EMR is not only implemented but meaningfully embedded into the clinical and operational fabric of the hospital.

As the Head of EMR People Change and Adoption, you will be working at the intersection of clinical care, culture, and transformation, this is where you will partner closely with senior leaders and frontline teams to design change in a way that prioritises patient safety, supports clinical workflows, and minimises disruption. You will act as a strategic advisor to program leadership, you will anticipate risks, surface insights on workforce readiness, and lead meaningful change at scale, improving the experience of those who deliver care, and the outcomes for those who receive it.

About the role

Reporting to our Director, IT Health, this senior role is responsible for leading the people change, adoption, and experience strategy for the EMR Transformation Initiative. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Defining and leading the EMR people change, adoption, and experience strategy in full alignment with program delivery timelines and broader transformation objectives.

  • Building and delivering a multi-year EMR People Experience and Adoption Roadmap that balances immediate clinical needs with long-term change and digital maturity across the organisation.

  • Driving the shift to a "Digital-First" clinical culture by embedding new ways of working and ensuring clinicians and staff are confident and genuinely engaged.

  • Partnering closely with clinical teams to translate complex clinical workflows into user-centric experiences and adoption approaches that minimise cognitive load and support patient safety.

  • Establishing and leading scalable change delivery models, including clinical champion networks, super user programs, and engagement forums to mobilise organisation-wide adoption.

  • Leading engagement across clinical, operational, and senior stakeholders to build strong advocacy around EMR.

  • Acting as the "early warning system" for the Program Director by identifying pockets of resistance and change fatigue through detailed impact assessments and readiness surveys.

  • Managing external change and training delivery partners using a "Build-Operate-Transfer" model to ensure knowledge is transferred to internal staff and a sustainable internal "Change Centre of Excellence" is established.

  • Building and leading a high-performing Change, Communications, and Adoption function of direct and in-direct reports, establishing sustainable internal capability to support ongoing EMR Initiatives.
