The Head of D2C Performance Media plays a vital role within the European D2C Team, co-ordinating all D2C Performance Media activity across MX, DA & VD, global D2C campaigns and spearheading regional and local commercial improvement opportunities within media

The role is critical in driving Samsung’s D2C performance media evolution through innovation, leadership and delivering sustainable business growth across 16 Subs.

This role is the key point of contact for D2C performance media across Europe, engaging with stakeholders globally, regionally and locally,

Role and Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities

D2C Performance Media Strategy & Planning

  • Regional Lead for D2C Performance Media
    • Lead the creation of Samsung's local D2C performance media strategy, strengthening its reputation as a pioneer and trendsetter in the European media scene.
    • Lead the elevation of D2C within the broader media agenda, positioning D2C at the heart of audience engagement and monetisation efforts
    • Guide channel specific growth strategies for D2C performance media including (but not limited to) search, shopping, social and affiliates.
    • Lead cross-divisional D2C performance media campaigns devising strategy and ensuring alignment with short-term business objectives as well as long-term growth expectations.
    • Act as key PIC for media efficiency initiatives supporting global efforts.
    • Own key D2C relationship with regional media agency and affiliates network, focusing on D2C media implementation across European markets, fostering collaboration to address regional market dynamics, whilst maintaining a unified narrative.
    • Provide executive oversight for the planning, execution, reporting and optimisation of Samsung’s £200M+ annual digital media budget across Europe
    • Deliver best practice based on specialist knowledge
    • Lead 33 countries (17 Subs) to educate them on performance media, and help convince them of the benefits, by constantly demonstrating return on investment and sales improvements
  • D2C Performance Media Execution & Effectiveness
    • Oversee the implementation of over €200M in D2C performance media investment, ensuring optimal allocation of spend and resources across European markets to ensure maximum impact. In addition, influence the Suwon EO D2C teams media investment of circa 20m into the region to support the European agenda  
    • Consultation and support for local subsidiaries with regards to technical support, programme optimisation, best practice and local strategy enhancement
    • Govern management and production of D2C performance media guidance , collaborating with data and analytics teams to define KPIs, develop key performance metrics and execute test cases that drive media efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Lead the development and implementation of pilot programmes that accelerate innovation across European markets. Collaborate with Suwon D2C leadership to design and execute innovative media initiatives, positioning Europe as a lead market for innovation within Samsung’s global ecosystem.
  • Strategic Governance & P2C Performance Media Monitoring
    • Set the strategic direction for media planning across European subsidiaries, fostering high level collaboration while enforcing consistency, compliance and alignment with Samsung’s regional and global objectives.
    • Analyse performance trends across subsidiaries to identify underperformance, uncover root causes, and implement data driven improvement strategies at regional and subsidiary levels
    • Standardise & Scale Best Practices Across Europe
  • Drive Innovation in D2C Peformance Media Measurement & Attribution
    • Leads comprehensive reporting and analysis of D2C media campaign performance, translating data into actionable insights that inform future strategies.
    • Collaborate with data and analytics teams to develop measurement frameworks that guide immediate decision making and future planning.
    • Work with Samsung D2C’s internal data and insights team to support continual improvement on media and affiliate reporting and insights
    • Support the development and implementation of advanced attribution models and incrementality testing to improve access to media performance and return on investment.
    • Support introduction of AI driven forecasting models and predictive analytics to improve budget allocation and return on investment.

Optimise Budgeting & D2C Performance Media Investment

  • Takes ownership of campaign optimisation, leveraging performance metrics to refine our approach and to ensure sustained success across all media
  • Lead the implementation of performance based media buying approaches, ensuring swift investment decisions based on real time performance insights.
  • Oversee management of D2C performance media budgets, encompassing campaign activation, channel investment, and agency partnerships
  • Accountable for financial stewardship, ensuring that investments are strategically prioritised to deliver an exceptional return on investment.

Supplier & Agency Management

  • Optimise Multi Vendor Media Operations
    • Work within a complex, multi-agency/network ecosystem, managing key agencies and delivery partners such as Starcom, Mindshare, Cheil, and SDSE as well as networks Awin and Rakuten.
  • Performance Oversight & Accountability
    • Ensure D2C performance media agencies and partners deliver maximum value and efficiency through rigorous performance tracking and governance.
    • Identify areas for optimisation, develop action plans, and monitor progress, ensuring agencies continuously improve and align with Samsung’s strategic goals.

Stakeholder Management

  • Lead D2C performance media initiatives across Europe
    • Drive collaboration across D2C, Media Efficiency, Brand, PR, CMI, and Planning, ensuring cross functional alignment on D2C Performance Media strategies.
  • Executive Level Engagement
    • Communicate progress, improvement plans, and pivital initiatives to subsidiary senior management, ensuring consensus and execution.
    • Serve as the main connection between European subsidiaries and HQ regarding D2C performance media matters, championing regional priorities and coordinating local implementation with global directives.
  • Global & Regional Influence
    • Represent the European D2C region in global media topics, ensuring Samsung’s global media strategy reflects the Europe’s unique challenges and opportunities.

What we need for this role

To be successful, you will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • An amalgamation of strategic, analytical, and technical strengths, a strong emphasis on delivery, and the ability to influence collaborators effectively.
  • Strong experience in technical and commercial performance media (10 yrs)
  • Demonstrable D2C business experience, ideally within ‘trading’ environment
  • Strategic problem solver with a proven ability to develop and implement strategies across all paid media channels
  • Working knowledge of paid media adtech including Google Marketing Cloud (GA360, GA4, Looker, DV360, Google Ads), Meta, TikTok, Snapchat, Linked In, Pinterest, X, feed integration solutions (eg Intelligent Reach).
  • Data-driven mind-set with expertise in using business and customer insights for decision-making.
  • Proficiency in data analytics platforms and tools.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Innovative and adaptable, with a passion for driving continuous improvement.
  • Implemented European-wide data-driven, multi-touchpoint marketing plans across digital channels to drive Acquisition, Retention & Loyalty
  • Strong background in collaborating with regional teams and aligning local and global objectives.
  • Strong agency / team management skills; comfortable leading multi-cultural teams, providing both strategic and hands-on operational feedback and evidence of driving results.
  • Experience in the consumer electronics or retail industry.
  • Dynamic and adaptable mind-set to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and resilience to navigate complex challenges.

What does success look like?

  • Lead the delivery of D2C revenue growth initiatives via driving clear strategic approaches and  implementation of D2C performance media tactics.
  • Foster partnerships with European subsidiaries, ensuring alignment and effective execution of strategies.
  • Use consumer focused insights to define campaign strategy for designated product categories and ensure globally-developed D2C performance media campaigns answer to European needs.
  • Working with European marketing functions, and influence senior teams in headquarters to develop propositions and campaigns that are optimised to deliver against the key business targets.
  • Monitor D2C performance media campaign implementation and results, providing informative campaign reports and post campaign analysis for key projects.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams in local subsidiaries to ensure that D2C performance media campaigns are implemented effectively across Europe.
  • Build strong partnerships with European subsidiaries, ensuring alignment and effective execution of strategies.
