What are we looking for?

Cleveland Clinic London are looking to recruit a Head of Compliance. The Head of Compliance is responsible for managing the strategy, design, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of Cleveland Clinic’s Corporate Compliance Program and conducting audit activities at Cleveland Clinic London (CCL) and its associated locations.

This role requires effective collaboration with hospital leadership, cross-functional teams, and both internal and external stakeholders. The Head of Compliance fosters a culture of integrity by enforcing, developing, updating, and managing enterprise policies and procedures, facilitating auditing and monitoring programs and activities, delivering training and education, providing guidance on compliance questions and activities, investigating allegations of potential misconduct, and enforcing compliance with regulations and standards. Success in this role demands critical thinking, sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to influence and execute within a complex, matrixed environment.

This role is London-based and reports directly to the Cleveland Clinic International Compliance Program Director, who is based in the US.

What will your duties include?

  • Inform and execute enterprise-wide compliance program strategy, including providing direction to the corporate compliance risk assessment processes, developing compliance workplans, and monitoring of associated education, policy-development, auditing, mitigation and corrective action activities. Lead the implementation of Cleveland Clinic’s Corporate Compliance Program at CCL.
  • Communicate and report to the Cleveland Clinic International Compliance Program Director and the Corporate Compliance Department leadership on all CCL compliance activities and receive direction and guidance from the same.
  • Under the direction and supervision of Internal Audit, function as a guest auditor and conduct assigned audit procedures related to CCL on-site internal audits. Develop and document audit findings, including recommendations for improving controls.
  • Serves as a trusted advisor and primary Compliance point of contact for CCL leadership.
  • Support departments and institutes in identifying and implementing regulatory and compliance requirements for existing and new services, operations, and activities—including, but not limited to, privacy, data protection, anti-trust/competition, anti-corruption, trade compliance, modern slavery, competition, prevention of fraud, business courtesies, cybersecurity, money laundering, scientific exchange, research, and medical education.
  • Stay current on evolving laws, regulations, guidance, and enforcement actions.
  • Serve as Compliance Partner to the CCL Compliance Committee and other compliance committees as assigned.
  • Prepare reports and executive summaries for enterprise committees and CCL leadership on compliance activities; aggregate trends and metrics to drive corrective actions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  

What we need from you?

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Healthcare, Finance, or related field required.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail; proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, and desirable proficiency in Epic electronic medical record.
  • Substantial and evidential experience in a compliance, ethics, legal, audit, or related risk roles, with progressive leadership in complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience building and scaling compliance programs, including risk assessment, policy governance, monitoring/auditing, investigations, and training.
  • Direct exposure to UK regulatory frameworks (e.g., UK GDPR/Data Protection Act 2018, CQC, CMA Order) and international risk domains (ABAC, sanctions, third-party risk)
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements across a range of areas, such as privacy, data protection, anti-trust/competition, anti-corruption, trade compliance, modern slavery, competition, prevention of fraud, business courtesies, cybersecurity, anti-money laundering, scientific exchange, research, and medical education.
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise-wide compliance programmes, including risk assessment, policy development, and monitoring of compliance activities across large organisations.
  • Ability to prepare comprehensive reports and executive summaries, aggregate compliance trends and metrics, and drive corrective actions based on data analysis.
