Head of Communications, CIB International

About this role

Wells Fargo is seeking a Head of Communications for its Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) business’ footprint outside the United States, responsible for managing strategic internal, external, and executive communications in EMEA and APAC. CIB is the fastest-growing U.S. investment bank on Wall Street, delivering a comprehensive suite of corporate banking; investment banking; sales, trading, financing, and research; and commercial real estate banking to corporate, institutional, and government clients around the globe. CIB’s international business is based in London, with other significant offices in Dublin, Paris and Singapore.

This role will be based in London and will report into CIB’s Communications, Marketing and Client Engagement function in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Manage media relations for CIB outside the United States

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with editors and reporters outside the United States who cover CIB, with a particular focus on London-based financial press

    • Proactively identify opportunities to communicate externally about CIB’s growth internationally, highlighting its value proposition, growth, notable deals, and emerging themes across transactions

    • Respond with discipline and sound judgment to media inquiries

  • Manage internal communications for the Banking, Markets and CRE businesses outside the United States:

    • Act as the communications lead to the Head of CIB International and their management team

    • Create strong internal content; maintain an “active reporter” mindset by continuously identifying story ideas based on business activity; show strong business acumen in creating content  

    • Enable close alignment with global CIB messaging

  • In addition:

    • Lead and coach a small team of geographically dispersed communicators

    • Track and measure results to ensure they are in line with intended outcomes

Required Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in Public Relations, Media Relations or Corporate Communications, with established connectivity with London-based business and news outlets

  • Experience in Investment Banking or an equivalent B2B financial services business  

  • Management or leadership experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience counseling executives on high-profile issues and delivering internal communications

  • Experience securing broadcast and print opportunities with industry-specific outlets

  • Experience preparing executives for media interviews and public speaking engagements

  • Experience designing and executing executive thought leadership platforms

  • Experience building strong relationships and collaborating across large, complex organizations

  • Experience leading high-performing, geographically dispersed teams within a matrixed environment
