State Street

Head of Access Administration Transformation, Vice president

Edinburgh, Scotland Full time

About the Role

We are looking for a collaborative leader to partner with our existing IAM Operations’ teams to transform how Access Administration (e.g. provisioning / fulfillment) is delivered across the enterprise.

Success in this role requires working alongside existing leaders to modernize processes, introduce automation, create capacity, and build a unified operating model that supports growth and improved user experience.

You will play a central role in shaping the future of access operations by building upon the strong foundation currently in place.

Key Responsibilities

1. Partner with IAM Operations to document and assess current centrally delivered services

  • Work closely with existing IAM Operations’ leads to document and understand current access request, approval, provisioning, and fulfilment workflows.
  • Collaboratively identify strengths, inefficiencies, gaps, and opportunities to streamline, simplify, and modernize processes..

2. Collaborate with business and technology teams to document and assess decentralised access processes

  • Engage constructively with decentralised teams performing access fulfilment today.
  • Establish open dialogue to encourage feedback and gather perspectives in order to shape the optimal future operating model.
  • Document process variations and risks in a way that is transparent and solution‑oriented.

3. Identify automation opportunities to increase shared capacity

  • In partnership with Operations’ managers, analyse end‑to‑end fulfilment workflows to identify automation and simplification opportunities.
  • Promote automation as a capacity enabler, freeing teams from manual workloads and allowing IAM to absorb decentralised demand over time.

4. Evaluate and implement automation tooling with Operations as co‑owners

  • Work jointly with engineering, operations, and platform teams to assess automation technologies (workflow automation, RPA, API‑driven fulfilment, CI/CD‑driven connectors, etc.).
  • Ensure that automation projects are co‑designed and co‑delivered with Operations, to promote engagement and ownership.
  • Support upskilling and ensure that automation enhances existing roles by enabling opportunities to develop and to take on new challenges.

5. Co‑design the future location strategy, resourcing model, and organisation structure

  • Shape a global location and resourcing strategy with input from the current team to ensure sustainability, efficiency, and appropriate skill alignment.
  • Design a team structure that supports growth, minimises disruption, and provides clear opportunities for existing staff.
  • Manage transitions collaboratively, with empathy and strong change‑leadership principles.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Demonstrated ability to lead transformations in partnership with existing stakeholders.
  • Strong background in process mapping, operating model design, and automation strategy.
  • Experience working with modern IAM platforms (e.g., SailPoint, CyberArk) and associated automation toolchains.
  • Excellent relationship‑building skills with the ability to influence without disrupting established structures.
  • Strong communication and change‑leadership capabilities.

What We Offer

  • A highly collaborative environment where your role is to enable, support, and strengthen existing IAM Operations’ teams.
  • The opportunity to co‑create a modernized access operations model with leaders across Technology and the Business.
  • Broad visibility across senior leadership and the IAM strategic agenda.
  • A chance to lead meaningful transformation without destabilising the teams who deliver essential services today.
