Hardware Engineer

Support hardware engineering activities associated with CAE’s through-life support contracts, upgrades, and installation projects across CAE’s simulators and training devices in accordance with CAE’s Engineering Management System.

The hardware engineering role covers both electrical and mechanical systems and involves the selection, procurement, installation and set-to-work of various low power electrical and mechanical interface, mechanical fixtures and systems. This includes defining or updating CAD drawings and wiring schematics used for simulator computer systems, computer racks, cockpit and simulated avionic interfaces, and peripheral equipment.


Description

  • Development of simulation hardware solutions for assigned tasks
  • Production of all relevant documentation
  • Deployment of the product at a customer site
  • Maintenance of development folders required to capture hardware development activities
  • Installation, integration and verification of the hardware components
  • Provide support for hardware interface changes
  • Maintain compliance with Engineering Management Procedure


Minimum Qualifications

  • Cert Iv, Advanced Diploma or Bachelor’s in relevant engineering and/or hardware domain
  • Functional experience and expertise in hardware and electrical engineering principles
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance – must be an AU Citizen!
  • Ability to work out of the Homebush office to a hybrid capacity (3 days in office/on-site, 2 days flexible)
  • Some travel required to our sites either within driving distance, or via travel interstate


Preferred Qualifications

  • Defence or aviation industry experience is desirable
  • Prior experience working on simulation devices, in particular flight simulation devices Is desirable
