We are seeking a talented Hardware Design Engineer to contribute to the development of cutting-edge optical networking products. This role involves the full lifecycle of hardware design, from conceptualization and circuit design to verification and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

How You Will Contribute:
As a Hardware Design Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, simulating, and testing complex analog and digital circuits for high-speed optical networking systems.
  • Developing detailed circuit designs, including schematic capture and component selection, adhering to industry best practices and company standards.
  • Leading and participating in Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design, layout, and manufacturing processes.
  • Performing comprehensive hardware verification and validation, including test plan development and execution, to ensure product functionality and reliability.
  • Collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams, including software, mechanical, FPGA, test and manufacturing engineers, to ensure seamless product integration.
  • Applying strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex hardware issues throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Managing project tasks and timelines, ensuring deliverables are met efficiently and effectively.
  • Engaging in vendor management, including evaluating and selecting components and working with suppliers to ensure quality and timely delivery.
  • Staying abreast of new technologies and industry trends in high-speed design and Integrated Circuits (ICs) to drive innovation.


The Must Haves:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with minimum 3 years of work experience
  • Proven experience in Analog Circuits Design and Digital Circuits.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Hardware Design and Hardware Verification.
  • Strong background in High-Speed Design principles and methodologies.
  • Experience with Integrated Circuits (ICs) and Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design and layout tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a methodical approach to debugging complex systems.
  • Solid understanding of project management principles and experience managing technical projects.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills, with a track record of working successfully in team environments.
  • Experience with component selection and vendor management.

Pay Range:

The annual salary range for this position is $74,200 - $118,400 CAD

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
