Job Description
The GSC Coordinator co‑op will support the Oshawa Assembly material office in managing data, scrap, obsolescence, and material‑flow standards. This role is ideal for a business, supply chain, or data‑focused student who enjoys working with numbers, investigating root causes, and improving processes in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
What You’ll Do

Scrap Administration & Investigation
Administer scrap system access, including granting access and managing tag ownership requests.
Monitor and follow up on overdue scrap tags to drive timely closure.
Lead or support GSC‑owned scrap investigations, including data extraction, root‑cause analysis, and concise summary of findings for review with leaders and finance.
Obsolete Material Management
Investigate obsolete and at‑risk materials using MGO, physical checks, and cross‑functional input.
Summarize exposure, trends, and drivers, and support action plans to reduce or prevent future obsolescence.
Prepare regular obsolete inventory reports for the business plan board and leadership reviews.
Standards, Audits & Compliance
Conduct and document Global Manufacturing Standard material‑segregation audits in the plant and material areas.
Track findings, follow up on corrective actions, and provide simple summaries of results and trends.
Business Plan & Logistics Support
Own the monthly business plan board administration for GSC (data refresh, charts, action tracking, and meeting readiness).
Maintain the transportation seal log, ensuring accurate entries, reconciliations, and follow‑up on discrepancies with the appropriate stakeholders.
Ownership & initiative
Takes end‑to‑end ownership of tasks (e.g., scrap tags, obsolete investigations, seal logs) without constant follow‑up.
Analytical & detail orientation
Strong attention to detail when working with large datasets, ensuring clean inputs and accurate KPIs.
Comfortable digging into root causes (scrap, obsolescence, segregation misses) and summarizing findings.
Communication & collaboration
Able to work with material coordinators, group leaders, operations, and finance to gather information and close actions.
Process & continuous improvement mindset
Interested in standardizing and simplifying recurring work (job aids, TIS updates, SharePoint/Glean how‑tos).
Uses data to identify waste and propose simple changes to improve flow or reduce scrap/obsolescence.
Learning agility & AI curiosity
Demonstrated curiosity about AI tools (e.g., Glean, Power BI Copilot) and willingness to experiment under guidance.
Learns plant systems and standards (MGO, GMS, segregation standards) quickly and applies them consistently.
