Job Description:
Dentsu is seeking a Group Director, Commerce & Retail Media to join New Stream Media (NSM) and lead strategic, operational, and client delivery excellence across one or more enterprise Retail Media Network (RMN) and commerce engagements.
This role is a client-facing, hands-on leadership position, responsible for owning day-to-day client relationships, guiding account strategy, and leading cross-functional teams across retail media, monetization, data, and commerce enablement. The Group Director will act as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, while ensuring strong operational rigor, financial accountability, and delivery quality.
This role requires comfort operating at both a strategic and tactical level, balancing executive client engagement with hands-on leadership and delivery oversight.
Key Responsibilities
Client Leadership & Strategic Partnership
- Serve as the primary day-to-day executive lead for assigned Retail Media and Commerce clients
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior client stakeholders, including RMN leadership, media, merchandising, and technology partners
- Lead strategic planning, roadmap development, and ongoing optimization of retail media and commerce programs
- Translate client objectives into scalable, measurable solutions aligned to NSM and Amplifi capabilities
Account Ownership & Operational Excellence
- Own RMN account health, including scope delivery, resourcing, timelines, and quality of output
- Ensure strong operational discipline, including forecasting, billing accuracy, staffing alignment, and financial performance
- Partner closely with Finance, Resource Management, and Operations to manage budgets, margins, and capacity
- Identify risks and proactively develop mitigation plans to keep work on track
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and mentor a team of RMN Account Managers
- Set clear expectations, provide coaching, and support career development across assigned teams
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Act as a key contributor to hiring, onboarding, and team design for growth and backfills
Retail Media & Commerce Expertise
- Bring deep expertise across Retail Media Networks, commerce monetization, and performance marketing
- Guide clients on best practices, emerging trends, and innovation across RMNs and commerce ecosystems
- Partner with internal teams across Media, Data, Technology, and Consulting to deliver integrated solutions
- Support the development of playbooks, frameworks, and POVs that strengthen NSM’s offering
Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years of experience in commerce, retail media, performance marketing, or digital media
- Proven experience leading enterprise-level client engagements
- Strong understanding of Retail Media Networks and monetization models
- Demonstrated success managing cross-functional teams and complex programs
- Experience owning account operations, financials, and resourcing
- Executive-level communication and stakeholder management skills
The annual salary range for this position is $119,000 -$185,000. Placement within the salary range is based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and other factors permitted by law.
