Do you enjoy working in a hands-on role, ensuring the upkeep of grounds and facilities? Genesee Lake School and Prader-Willi Homes, MyPath Companies, are seeking a dedicated Groundskeeper to join our team and help maintain our grounds.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Groundskeeper, who will be responsible for lawn care, landscaping, and more at Genesee Lake School and Prader-Willi Homes. This position is perfect for those who enjoy working outdoors and contributing to the aesthetic and functional upkeep of our beautiful facilities. You will play a key role in maintaining the grounds, caring for equipment, and assisting with other maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

Grounds Maintenance:

  • Responds to and completes groundskeeping tasks and work requests as assigned by the Facilities Manager, including but not limited to:  grass cutting, mulching beds, edging, weed trimming, using backpack blower, using a wood chipper, spraying weeds, pulling weeds, treating lawn with liquid or granular chemicals, tree trimming/cutting, buckthorn removal, planting, leaf collection, and snow removal (shoveling, plowing, and snow blowing).
  • Purchase, maintain and store chemicals used in groundskeeping, including but not limited to fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides.
  • Assist with tree trimming, planting, and leaf collection.

Equipment Maintenance:

  • Maintains tools, equipment, and machinery used by the Maintenance Department and other departments.
  • Grounds and lawn care equipment including but not limited to sit-down power mowers, hedge and tree trimmers, clippers, chainsaws, chainsaw chain sharpeners, rakes, snowplow, snow blower, backpack sprayers, granular fertilizer spreaders, various shovels, woodchippers, Bobcat skid loader, brush cutter, forklift, dump truck, enclosed and landscaping trailers.
  • Conduct minor repairs and troubleshooting for landscape machinery and equipment.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with the Facilities Manager to address any grounds maintenance issues.
  • Complies with and positively reinforces with others the expectations outlined in: MyPath Company Handbook; policies and procedures including emergency/disaster procedures, fire/tornado safety and maintains confidentiality.

General Upkeep:

  • Assist with special maintenance projects as assigned.
  • Job duties may include working outside of normal scheduled hours (snow removal).
  • Help maintain safety and cleanliness in all work areas.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and external vendors, ensuring a professional and supportive environment.

Schedule:

  • Primarily day shift with flexibility to meet location needs.
  • Must be able to respond to emergency situations promptly.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • At least two years of previous groundskeeping experience required

Required Skills & Attributes:

  • Ability to operate landscaping equipment safely and effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and good communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 80 lbs.

Additional Requirements:

  • Maintains a valid WI Driver’s License with an excellent driving record.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, and walking in an outdoor setting.
  • Willingness to work in varying weather conditions.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Fast-paced and changing work environment.
  • Exposure to chemicals, dust, and power-driven equipment.
  • Physical work including Bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, walking, standing, running, squatting, and bilateral manual dexterity to perform essential job functions.

Additional Information

The compensation for this role is $17.50-22.75/hour, based on level of experience.
