Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems sector has an opening for an GSE Mechanic 3/4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in Palmdale, CA.
Duties and Responsibilities:
GSE Mechanic will perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to include in-depth repair as required on powered and non-powered Ground Support Equipment (GSE). Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on special purpose vehicles, GEM carts, and forklifts. Reviews maintenance records of periodic maintenance to ensure equipment is fully operational in support of daily equipment requirements. Uses an assortment of basic hand tools in addition to precision measuring devices for troubleshooting and repairs. Works from complex written instructions such as formal test specifications, blueprints, drawings, schematics, and manuals. May instruct lower-level mechanics in technical aspects of Ground Support equipment work. Exercises appropriate safety measures.
Basic Qualifications GSE Mechanic 3:
High School Diploma/GED and 4 years’ experience in maintenance of equipment that supports electrical power generation, AC refrigeration repairs and hydraulic applications
Ability to work in an outdoor environment during various times of the year
This position requires the ability to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work to include: bending, stooping, kneeling, carrying tools, lifting up to 50 pounds, working overhead or at heights, and accessing small, confined spaces
Must be able to pass a New Hire Physical Exam, and able to obtain and maintain a respirator clearance and compliance with all respirator fitting requirements
Proficiency in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing various types of GSE, such as tugs, tractors, Air start carts, power units, and air-conditioning units
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret clearance and Special Program access clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs
Valid Universal 608 EPA Card
Hands-on experience in the inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of AC/Refrigeration equipment/systems
Experience with AC (Ventilation and Air Conditioning)
Mechanical background
This is a 3 10 shift position supporting Friday thru Sunday.
Basic Qualifications GSE Mechanic 4:
High School Diploma/GED and 6 years’ experience in maintenance of equipment that supports electrical power generation, AC refrigeration repairs and hydraulic applications
Ability to work in an outdoor environment during various times of the year

Preferred Qualifications:
Forklift Certification
HVAC Certification (5 plus years of experience)
Electrician: Must be proficient and knowledgeable in 3 phase and single-phase power distribution systems, motor controls, wiring and troubleshooting of such systems
Working knowledge of HVAC maintenance
Strong hydraulic background
Maintenance Shop Experience
Welding Cert. or License
