Powerhouse Arts is a not-for-profit organization committed to creative expression. Housed in a purpose-built-facility in Brooklyn, the organization hosts an extended network of art and fabrication professionals and educators who work together to co-create and share artistic practices vital to the well-being of artists and the communities to which they serve. Our facilities house fabrication services, production services, production spaces, and member workshops for artisans. In 2025, PHA welcomed thousands of patrons as the building became a center for art and performance.

As Powerhouse Arts continues to grow and expand its impact, we are seeking Part-Time Greeters to join our growing team. This role will support Powerhouse Visitor Services during various types of events and will report to the Associate Director of Ticketing & Visitor Services. The Greeters will play a key role in welcoming guests to Powerhouse, serving as the first point of contact for guests attending public programming events. Acting as an ambassador for Powerhouse, the Greeter ensures a warm, welcoming, and professional experience for all attendees. This role is essential in shaping the guest experience by providing helpful information about the event, the organization and upholding the organization’s values of creativity and community.

Responsibilities include:

  • Welcome and greet guests upon arrival, providing a friendly and professional first impression.
  • Direct guests to event spaces, registration areas, restrooms, and other key locations within Powerhouse.
  • Provide information about Powerhouse Arts, its mission, and programming to guests.
  • Assist with event flow and support crowd management to ensure a smooth and safe guest experience.
  • Act as a liaison between guests and event organizers, communicating any immediate feedback or concerns.
  • Checking in guests via ticket scanning or a verified list.

  • Passion for the arts and a commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • Must possess an FDNY F-04 Safety Personnel Certification or be willing to obtain it (Powerhouse Arts will cover all associated certification costs).
  • Punctual and reliable, with strong interpersonal and communication skills with a welcoming and approachable demeanor.
  • Ability to remain professional and composed in busy or high-pressure situations, with a proactive approach to guest needs.
  • Experience in customer service, hospitality, theater, art fairs, or event-related roles is preferred, experience with ticket scanning hardware and software a plus.
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.

Hours + Compensation: The hourly rate for this role ranges from $22 to $24, depending on experience. There is no set shift; the ideal candidates will be able to pick up shifts as needed and assist with special events. Candidates should have flexibility and availability to support a range of scheduling needs.
