The Graduate Medical Education (GME) Specialist in the department of Neurology provides administrative and operational support for residency and fellowship training programs, ensuring high‑quality educational experiences and compliance with accreditation and institutional requirements. The role supports program leadership, faculty, and trainees by coordinating day‑to‑day program operations, managing cyclical academic activities, and maintaining accurate program documentation. Applying working knowledge of accreditation standards, GME policies, and departmental procedures, the coordinator assists with recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, evaluations, credentialing, and educational programming. The position serves as a first point of contact for fellow trainees, program directors, clinical sites, and institutional offices, ensuring timely communication and smooth program functioning. Operating with general guidance, the coordinator exercises judgment within established parameters, supports continuous improvement of program processes, and contributes to the overall educational mission of the department and institution. Supervises scheduling of events, participates in establishing policies & implementation; Monitors deadlines and assists with site review; obtains educational initiatives; evaluates & authorizes payments; manages program finances functions as resource for fellows; manages faculty learner evaluations; distributes collects summarizes & maintains evaluations to present data to fellowship program directors; develops survey & poll former fellows on training

The specialist will manage all NEURO courses across the department that are taught primarily to graduate level and post-graduate level students, including fellows and post-doctoral students. Primary duties include working with the Neurology faculty, the registrars office, and the department Chair to coordinate, maintain, and expand the current high volume of Neurology faculty instructed courses each semester of the academic year. This includes both clinical & research courses which are currently at 20+ courses with plans to expand in size. The specialist helps with establishing class size, building the courses within SIS, adjusting courses from one semester to the next, ensuring course curricula standards are met, training faculty on how to use SIS, submission of appropriate student registration, and other activities related to these NEURO courses.

The education specialist will also coordinate and assist with all aspects of the department medical student training program as directed by the Medical Student Program Director and the Department Administrator. The specialist interfaces with other program directors, other coordinators in Internal Medicine & Psychiatry who share the same medical student roations, & monitors medical student activities, assists reviews & updates program curricula; plans & supervises scheduling of events participates in establishing policies & implementation monitors deadlines and requirements assists with site review; obtains educational initiatives; evaluates & authorizes payments.

Also manages department lectureships. Coordinates, schedules, of all department lectureships. Interacts with department leadership to choose lectureships guest speakers, manage on-site activities, and run monthly committees to provide logistics and events planning.

Minimum Education & Experience Required

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Advanced degree in relevant field may be desirable. 2 years of relevant experience required. 4-8 years of relevant experience preferred. Requires successful completion of a background check; qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
