Information Technology at the RBA is an exciting and dynamic area and is the technological backbone of the Australian financial system. At the RBA, you’ll contribute to challenging and meaningful work that makes a difference and creates a direct and positive impact on the Australian people.    

Our Planning and Performance Management team is responsible for management of governance and secretariat activities within the Information Technology department, strategic planning, and management reporting that supports optimal decision making across our department.

Your role

As Corporate Governance Specialist in the Planning and Performance team, you’ll take the lead coordinating and supporting governance and secretariat activities in the IT department, along with supporting the effectiveness of the executive function within the department.

More specifically, you’ll:

  • Review and edit whitepapers and executive briefings for the RBA Governance Board, Audit and Risk Committee, and management committees on behalf of the CIO and IT Executive.

  • Contribute to coaching of other IT staff involved in the authoring and production of whitepapers and executive briefings

  • Maintain and mature the RBA’s IT Governance Framework in collaboration with the wider RBA governance community.

  • Plan and coordinate IT-led management forums, and liaise with secretaries of other key RBA management committees and forums to ensure consistency and alignment content and dates.

  • Proactively seek opportunities to streamline key processes across technology management, governance and secretariat functions.

  • Occasionally, you may be required to provide secretariat functions for technology-oriented governance and management forums

Your background

  • Ability to write clearly, concisely, and persuasively.

  • Excellent grammar, punctuation, and attention to detail.

  • Skilled in structuring complex ideas into logical, readable formats, and supported by visually appealing presentations suited for executive and board level audiences.

  • Familiarity with requirements of Board or ministerial-level whitepapers and executive briefings.

  • Understanding of IT, finance, and risk management concepts.

  • Excellent critical thinking, research skills, and ability to apply judgement and insight in the analysis of strategic themes. High level of initiative.

  • Ability to engage effectively with senior internal stakeholders.

  • Ability to operate autonomously, set priorities. Outstanding organisation skills with the ability to drive others to meet deadlines.

  • A university degree in business, communications, or similar

  • Financial services and/or public sector background would be advantageous, although not essential
