Job Summary

You’ll be supporting the smooth running of the organisation’s governance, ensuring decision-making is informed by and conforms to relevant standards, codes and frameworks. 

Working with key stakeholders, you’ll provide effective secretariat support to Committee Chairs, the Chief Executive, Board and Executive Committee to deliver the organisation’s strategy and priorities.

This role supports the Head of Governance and is a key part of the Strategy, Policy and Governance directorate.

As part of the Governance team alongside the CEO’s Private Office in a team of 8, you will be working closely with colleagues at all levels in Finance, HR, Commercial too.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Secretariat with responsibility for coordinating meetings, agendas and papers for boards and subcommittees

  • Driving standards for quality papers, promoting a consistent approach across all Boards and Committees and discipline in following governance processes and best practice

  • Produce high quality, accurate minutes, reports and action logs for a range of governance meetings, within tight deadlines

  • Oversee the completion of agreed actions with stakeholders across the business

  • Forward Planning and working closely with the Board/Committee Chairs to ensure that decisions are made in the appropriate forum and communicated effectively, and that Boards and Committees are operating in line with their Terms of Reference

  • Support the Head of Governance with support for the Non-Executive Directors as required

  • Responsibility for storing related documentation in a structured way with appropriate consideration for any issues of confidentiality or sensitivity

Essential Criteria (to be assessed at application stage):

  • Experience of corporate governance and/or a strong administrative background with a proven ability to plan, deliver and document meetings

  • Demonstrable organisational skills with a proven ability to operate effectively in roles with a high degree of autonomy, using initiative to solve problems and broker solutions; and an ability to deal with changing priorities

  • Strong written communication skills with good attention to detail, being able to present clear observations, conclusions and recommendations that support effective decision making

  • Proven communication, influencing, persuasion and engagement skills, gained through significant interaction with senior-level internal and external audiences

  • Experience of operating flexibly and working at pace, planning and prioritising to meet tight deadlines, along with an exceptional level of integrity with a proven ability to deal with sensitive material

Successful candidates are expected to work from one of the office locations listed. Our current office attendance approach requires a minimum of 26 days per quarter (approx 2 days per week, which may be subject to change) in CCS office locations or off site meetings with suppliers, customers, partners, networking / industry events.
