The Role 

We are seeking a Strategic Engagement Manager (SEM) to lead largescale, Multi institutional partnerships within our Life Sciences portfolio. This role focuses on building long-term collaborations with governments, research organizations, and academic consortia to address national and regional research priorities. 

This is a strategic, consultative role, not a transactional sales position. You will work with senior leaders across science, policy, and data strategy to shape complex, high value initiatives that deliver meaningful outcomes. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Architect integrated, portfolio-based solutions leveraging Elsevier’s Life Sciences offerings (e.g., Reaxys, Embase, Embiology, Pharmapendium, AI and point solutions, LeapSpace). 

  • Develop and lead long term strategic engagements with national and Mult institutional research stakeholders. 

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior leaders across research, funding, and policy environments. 

  • Identify and shape complex, high value opportunities aligned to research and innovation priorities. 

  • Design integrated, portfolio-based solutions using Elsevier Life Sciences products and services. 

  • Lead consultative discovery conversations to understand needs and define measurable value. 

  • Coordinate multistakeholder, multiyear engagements from early strategy through agreement. 

  • Collaborate with cross functional internal teams to support engagement delivery and outcomes. 

  • Navigate public sector procurement, governance, and consortium decision making processes. 

  • Partner with Customer Success teams to support adoption, value realization, and growth. 

  • Share market insights and feedback to inform product development and commercial strategy. 

 

Requirements: 

  • 7 year's of experience leading complex, consultative engagements in data, analytics, technology, or research focused environments. 

  • Demonstrated ability to manage long cycle, multistakeholder initiatives. 

  • Confidence working with senior decisionmakers and executive level stakeholders. 

  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex ideas clearly. 

  • Experience shaping solutions that combine multiple products or services. 

  • Collaborative approach to working across diverse internal and external teams. 

  • Commercial awareness, including business case development and value articulation. 

  • Comfort working within public sector, academic, or research ecosystems. 

  • Ability to adapt to different cultural, organizational, and policy contexts. 

  • Relevant professional experience or equivalent transferable skills (advanced degrees welcome but not required).
