Job Description: 

The Global ODM Quality Engineering (GOQ) team is essential for successful operations, overseeing activities from Surface Mount Technology (SMT) to Final Assembly at supplier sites. The GOQ team collaborates with ODM suppliers to communicate effectively and quickly resolve quality issues, helping reduce disruptions.  The GOQ Engineer VI manages onboarding and transition processes for ODMs, ensuring quality standards and protocols are followed. This focus on quality helps create a strong manufacturing environment that meets high standards throughout production. This role involves supervising and coordinating all Operational Engineering and Quality Engineering tasks from New Product Introduction (NPI) to the Sustaining phase, including those related to SMT and Final Assembly in ODM factories.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Onboarding and Setup for New Factory or Factory Transition.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives by overseeing product quality from sample builds through to mass production.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address non-conformances and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) associated with new product development.
  • Lead the quality launch plan for NPI and facilitate supplier qualification during the new product development stage.
  • Review and enhance manufacturing processes to contribute to achieving Operational Excellence.
  • Provide technical support for Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) manufacturing and repair processes with the objective of driving continuous improvement.
  • Conduct risk assessments and effectively communicate and mitigate operational risks.
  • Ensure the quality performance of the ODM factory, prioritising high yield rates and conducting comprehensive end-of-line outgoing quality audits.
  • Optimize production cycle time and capacity to guarantee that operations function efficiently and effectively while upholding the highest standards of quality and performance.
  • Feedback to relevant stakeholders regarding potential issues, ensuring that the proposed solutions are viable for the factory's needs.
  • Implement a proactive approach to enhance field performance optimisation.
  • Conduct weekly and monthly quality reviews with ODM suppliers as a crucial aspect of maintaining excellence across all operational facets.
  • Perform periodic audits of ODM suppliers, including process audits and Quality System Assessments (QSA), and collaborate with ODM factories to address any identified gaps.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for junior Global ODM Quality (GOQ) engineers.

Qualifications: 

  • The ideal candidate for this position should possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering, accompanied by at least 8 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, candidates with a Master’s degree in these disciplines should have at least 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Applicants are expected to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of PC architecture. Additionally, a minimum of 6 years of experience in Surface Mount Technology (SMT), mechanical assembly, testing, and industrial engineering is required.
  • A strong knowledge and application of Lean Six Sigma principles is essential, with a preference for candidates holding a Black Belt certification.
  • Experience in PC product engineering is critical for effectively supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives. Furthermore, candidates with advanced proficiency in Design for Excellence (DFx) techniques will be viewed favourably.
