POSITION SUMMARY

The Global Commodity Manager is responsible for leading Pulsafeeder sites (Rochester, NY, and Punta Gorda, FL), global material sourcing, and supplier base management.  The Global Commodity Manager must develop, prioritize, and execute short and long-term commodity strategies that reduce supply chain complexity and achieve a minimum of 3.5% YOY net inflation material productivity.  The individual is accountable for the supply base management of the commodity and uses a variety of tools to drive supplier delivery and quality improvements.  Identify and develop “best in class” international and domestic supply base for critical components while also reducing overall supply chain complexity.  This key leader will work closely with each site's Supply Chain team in the development of strategic plans and supporting objectives

  • Director of Strategic Sourcing (Rochester, NY)

TARGET COMPENSATION:

  • $120,000 - 140,000 annually

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for developing and executing commodity strategies that achieve quality, delivery, cost, and inventory targets within respective commodities.

  • Understand current market conditions, Geopolitical environment, and incorporate into commodity strategies to effectively mitigate supply chain risk.   

  • Negotiates agreements with suppliers of assigned global commodities, ensuring that the best total cost is realized.  Contracts will include such items as discounts, payment terms, shipping terms, stocking agreements, quality parameters, service requirements, supply chain connections, and other items deemed valuable to IDEX

  • Utilizes 80/20 mindset to establish strategies and reduce supply base complexity for assigned commodities.  This also includes identifying opportunities for product complexity reduction and leading project teams to do so

  • Manage the global supply base and incorporate supply chain management tools to continually improve supplier performance and drive internal efforts to resolve supplier issues.

  • Assist product teams in gaining a competitive advantage by incorporating product roadmaps, current market conditions, and new technologies within their commodities. Continually assess and evaluate new suppliers

  • Oversees the process to select and manage suppliers with a focus on scalability.  Measure and track performance for each supplier category

  • Identify strong secondary sources for 80 parts

  • Establish external cadence around supplier visits/site visits, scorecards (TQDRC – Technology, Quality, Delivery, Responsiveness, and Cost), and metrics for top partners to be reviewed on a monthly/quarterly basis with the supplier

  • Establish internal cadence around the state of our top vendors with SLT/NLL/Commercial on a monthly/quarterly basis

  • Developing and executing supplier agreements (i.e., Kanban, LTA, Blanket program)

  • Build strong partnerships and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including supply chain, engineering, quality, production, and other IDEX BUs/IDEX Office of Business Services.

  • Build strategic relationships with key suppliers and be proactive in managing the relationships to ensure no disruption in the supply chain, and ensure additional savings

  • Responsible for supplier negotiations and developing win-win strategies that achieve sustainable relationships with suppliers

  • Focus on direct and indirect cost productivity.  Lead cross-functional teams to drive annual productivity improvements in each spend category

  • Lead in the selection and qualification process of suppliers, including managing the RFQ process when applicable

  • Lead and support supplier improvement initiatives, supplier quality assessments, and audits

  • Identify potential risks in the global supply chain and implement contingency plans internally and externally to mitigate those risks.

  • Develop an accurate material cost forecast based on the market, industry, and economic factors.  This will include material and component cost models within each commodity to accurately predict future material costs for the organization.

  • Acquire sources for new technologies that provide Pulsafeeder with a competitive advantage

  • Sourcing and supply chain lead working with technical personnel both internally and externally in early stages of new product development and design changes

  • Perform other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in a technical competency, minimum in a business/industrial related field

  • 5 or more years of related experience in commodity management in a manufacturing environment with increasing responsibilities 

  • Experience in iron casting, steel casting, and plastics preferred

  • Experience in managing a global supply base required

  • Demonstrated project management skills

  • APICS certification is a plus

  • Experience in a low-volume, high-mix, engineered-to-order manufacturing environment

  • Up to 25% travel required, if remote, up to 50% travel required

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT AND ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

  • This position operates in a manufacturing office setting and involves regular use of standard office equipment. The role requires the ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while performing computer based tasks. The employee will occasionally move about the office or nearby production areas to access equipment, attend meetings, or communicate with team members.   • Hybrid Position: Candidate must reside locally in either Rochester, NY or Punta Gorda, FL. Role requires three (3) days onsite and allows two (2) days of remote work each week.

Total Rewards

The compensation range for this position is $112,700.00 - $169,100.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
