Edwards Pitman, a Braun Intertec Company, is seeking an entry to mid-level GIS Specialist/Traffic Noise Analyst to join its team in the Atlanta office. The role responsibilities would be split between GIS services and traffic noise modeling for noise impact assessments. The GIS work would include generating graphics and datasets for our ecology, archaeology, history, and NEPA groups, assisting with GPS workflows for field data collection, and various data processing and database management tasks. The traffic noise work would include field surveying, recording noise measurements, developing noise models in GIS for import into TNM 2.5, assessing noise abatement measures via TNM results, and completing noise impact assessments.
Responsibilities:
· Provide GIS support to NEPA, ecology, archaeology, and history groups in the form of generating datasets, managing datasets, and graphics for environmental documents.
· Assist ecology and archaeology staff with setting up online maps for Field Maps data collection using phones or tablets paired with GNSS, and importing collected data into ArcGIS Pro for analysis and graphics production.
· Work with DOT project CAD files and diagrams to extract relevant spatial data and create GIS datasets.
· Conduct field survey of land use and collect noise measurements for noise impact analyses.
· Map receivers, digitize roadways, and interpret traffic reports to populate GIS traffic noise models for import into TNM 2.5.
· Perform noise abatement analysis and barrier modeling in TNM 2.5, and complete Noise Impact Assessments in compliance with state DOT and FHWA regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
· BS or BA in Geography, GIS, Environmental Studies, or related field.
· 1-4 years of direct GIS experience.
Required Skills:
· Ability to work closely with NEPA, ecology, archaeology, and history SMEs, work on multiple projects concurrently, and manage deadlines.
· Strong communication and writing skills.
· Understanding of cartographic principles, visual appearance best practices, and high attention to detail.
· Skilled user of Esri GIS software, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Field Maps, and Survey123.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
· Experience with TNM 2.5 or keen desire to learn noise modeling.
Desired Skills:
· Familiarity using submeter and survey-grade GNSS units with mobile GIS collection platforms.
· Environmental consulting experience with DOT projects.
· Certificate in TNM 2.5 or experience using the software and completing NIAs.
· Scripting, query, and expression language experience (Python, SQL, Arcade, or other GIS-relevant languages).
Licensing or Certification Requirements:
Valid driver’s license and pass MVR as required.

The majority of time will be spent working in office with 3-4 days per month traveling to project sites and completing fieldwork. The first 6 months will require the employee to be in office, but a shift to a hybrid role with some time spent working remotely can be discussed after that period.

Compensation Range:
