Job Summary: This GENERAL SUPPLY SPECIALIST is located in the Air National Guard, Mission Support Group, Logistics Readiness Squadron, Materiel Management Flight, Equipment Accountability Element of the Customer Support Section and is part of the CA 146 AW.

Major Duties:

  • THIS IS A T5 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION. The primary purpose of the GENERAL SUPPLY SPECIALIST, GS-2001-9, is to ensure accountability of in-use equipment and provide management control, oversight, coordination, and implementation of all equipment accounted for by the ANG Assistant USPFO/Accountable Officer. This position is the primary point of contact for wing/base/supported organizations equipment accountability. Serves as a technical advisor to the Wing Commander, staff, base personnel, state, and supported Geographically Separated Units (GSUs) regarding policy and procedure pertaining to equipment accountability. Attends base deployment concept briefings to identify organizations deploying equipment. Coordinates with Equipment Custodians to identify equipment requirements for deployments. Requests deployment review listings through the GLSC or utilize similar listings and identifies equipment to be transferred or placed in a deployed status. Advises approving and/or appointing authorities on equipment policy and procedures affecting lost, stolen, damaged, or destroyed government property (Class II, VII & IX). Interprets ASC and other data as it relates to weapons systems and base authorization for equipment to identify valid requirements, and prepare change requests to ensure that equipment authorizations are maintained within applicable allowance. Researches and determines or recommends appropriate actions or interpretation of issues impacting supporting organizations. Determines appropriate recommendations for unresolved or questionable problems and performs follow-up. Identifies, analyzes, interprets, and applies equipment allowance criteria to support assigned mission(s), weapons system(s), and other base equipment authorizations. Identifies and analyzes needs for reduced/increased equipment authorizations and significant technical changes The position resides within the infrastructure and support functions of the state National Guard; the incumbent is not subject to mobilization, nor is the work described part of the military mission; and the incumbent does not perform a key advisory or essential administrative role that is inherently military. In addition, the position must meet one of the following: It does not have a comparable military function; the position is required in full-time (civilian) role when the organization, or similar military position, is mobilized to perform continuing post-mobilization functions; or the position requires a skill or competency that necessitates technical expertise or professional qualifications that cannot be readily found in the military structure of the state military force. May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance.

Qualifications: GENERAL SUPPLY SPECIALIST, GS-2001-9: Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-07 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated. Specialized experience may have been demonstrated by performing duties such as: demonstrated ability researching documents or other resources to coordinate inventory requirements; Knowledge of stock levels, inventory, shipping, receiving, requisitioning and requirements of supplies and equipment; experience involving the control of supply stocks and accounting for equipment; Knowledge of supply management, cataloging, maintenance, and disposal procedures; experience which required person-to-person contacts to convey information and ability to compile reports, letters, memoranda, etc; demonstrated experience with cost estimates, budgets, or funding management; experience conducting extensive and exhaustive searches for required information; reconstruct records for complex supply transactions; and/or provide supply operations support for supply activities.
