General Services Assistant I
Join us and support the effective operation of PAHO’s country office through essential general services.
The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization (WHO), is seeking a service‑oriented, organized, and dependable General Services Assistant I to support general services operations at the PAHO/WHO Country Office in Venezuela.
PAHO Country Offices are responsible for ensuring that PAHO/WHO technical cooperation activities and country presence effectively support national health development and contribute to regional and global health agendas. Within this context, the Office of Administration ensures the delivery of essential operational and logistical services that enable the Organization’s technical work.
Under the general supervision of the PAHO/WHO Representative, and the direct supervision of the Administrator, the selected candidate will:
• Assist in coordinating, monitoring, and controlling the use, maintenance, and replacement of office supplies, equipment, and facilities.
• Support the implementation and monitoring of the Annual Operational Plan for General Services to ensure efficiency and optimal use of resources.
• Assist in managing the use of official vehicles, transportation services, fuel consumption, maintenance, and insurance.
• Support office security measures, including implementation of the UN Security Plan and control of access to office premises.
• Maintain inventory records and perform physical audits of expendable and non‑expendable property, ensuring accurate documentation.
• Provide logistical support for meetings, workshops, seminars, and official events, including coordination of equipment and transportation.
• Prepare routine correspondence, reports, and administrative documentation related to general services activities.

What is required for this position?
Education
Essential: Certificate of completion of high school.
Desirable: Training in: Comprehensive Hygiene and Safety, Customer Service, Maintenance of buildings.
Experience
Essential: Four (4) years of experience in the General Services area, or three (3) years of experience in planning, coordination and control of essential support activities related to general services or logistics and one year of college or university level courses towards a declared minor/major in the area of Engineering/Administration.
Desirable: Experience in implementing preventive and corrective maintenance plans would be an advantage.
Languages
Fluency in Spanish with a basic knowledge of English.
IT Skills
Demonstrated ability to effectively use current technology and software, as well as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). Other IT skills and knowledge of software programs such as Microsoft Excel, Outlook, OneDrive, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, and Word are considered essential.

• Knowledge of basic procurement contracting principles and ability to interpret rules and regulations.

• Ability to prepare routine and non‑routine correspondence and reports in Spanish and English.
• Ability to research, analyze, and organize information for reporting and operational support.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and under operational pressure.
Duration of Contract
This is an initial 11-month assignment, with the possibility of extensions, subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
