The Opportunity

General Sales & Marketing work focuses on a combination of general sales and marketing work including: Face-to-face and/or remote sales to new or existing customers. Assessing customer needs and suggesting appropriate products, services and/or solutions. Planning, developing, and delivering the marketing strategy for products/services and associated brand(s). Evaluating, measuring, and managing the product/brand P&L (e.g., budgeting, expenditures, profitability, return-on-investment, etc.) Incumbents in this specialization may also provide customer service and support in the form of information on product/price and resolution to issues related to billing, shipping, delivery, complaints, etc. Incumbents matching to this specialization are compensated based on achievement of sales targets. An Experienced Professional (P2) applies practical knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. May require the following proficiency: Works independently with general supervision. Problems faced are difficult but typically not complex. May influence others within the job area through explanation of facts, policies and practices. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced General Sales & Marketing Professional to support business growth and market penetration for Hitachi Energy India. This role involves developing and executing strategic sales and marketing initiatives to achieve ambitious targets.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Prepare and support the development of technical and commercial offers in line with customer specifications, internal factory inputs, and Sales organization directives.
  • Participate in project kickoff meetings to ensure alignment with cross‑functional teams.
  • Define and communicate solution costs to the Sales team, ensuring transparency and accuracy.
  • Ensure timely completion of Project Risk Review documentation in accordance with Hitachi Energy policies and compliance standards.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to review and evaluate legal, contractual, and commercial clauses, along with project‑related risks and costs.
  • Analyze technical issues and evaluate associated risks to support sound decision‑making throughout the bidding process.
  • Assess customer needs and benchmark competitor offerings using market intelligence and Sales organization insights.
  • Conduct lost proposal analyses, identify root causes, and recommend improvement actions in collaboration with Sales and Local Business Units.
  • Lead the preparation of technical and financial aspects of proposals, including pricing, commercial terms, and defining items to be quoted.
  • Select the most suitable technologies and product configurations based on application requirements, commercial needs, and quality expectations.
  • Negotiate consortium or subcontracting agreements and define work scopes in alignment with bid partners when applicable.
  • Gather all relevant documentation and maintain clear records of proposal assumptions, decisions, and rationale.
  • Coordinate and conduct initial technical inspections to collect necessary information for proposal development.
  • Obtain accurate cost inputs by collaborating with internal cost owners and functional stakeholders.
  • Provide technical support to Sales Managers during customer technical meetings.
  • Participate in customer negotiations on technical, contractual, and commercial elements of the proposal.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background

  • Degree qualifications in Engineering (electrical) or recognized equivalent. 
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Sales and Marketing (preferably tendering). 
  • Knowledge of AIS substation equipment: Instrument Transformers/ Live Tank Breakers / Disconnectors & Earthing Switches. 
  • Prior experience in Utilities tendering process. 
  • Strong understanding of the power and energy industry landscape, including relevant technologies, market dynamics, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Estimating and tendering experience (MS Excel based system). 
  • Computer literacy and competent in using SFDC (preferable), MS Word, MS Excel 
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Time management, co-ordination, accuracy, attention to detail and performing in a pressure environment are necessary. 
  • Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required
