You’ll play a vital role in shaping first impressions and supporting positive patient experiences. By offering a warm welcome, practical assistance, and calm reassurance, you’ll help patients and visitors feel supported throughout their hospital journey.
Your work behind the scenes—maintaining clean, orderly front-of-house spaces, assisting with patient movements, handling belongings, and supporting colleagues—will directly contribute to a safe, efficient, and compassionate healthcare environment. Every task you complete helps our clinicians focus on clinical care, ensuring health truly happens here.
Key Responsibilities
Welcome patients, visitors, and staff in a friendly, professional, and compassionate manner
Support reception and front-of-house activity, including patient check-ins and check-outs
Assist patients with moving safely and comfortably around the hospital
Respond to enquiries, resolve issues, and signpost visitors appropriately
Handle and deliver patient belongings with care and respect
Keep reception areas, waiting rooms, and entrances clean, tidy, and presentable
Report maintenance, cleanliness, or safety issues promptly
Support access control and follow hospital security procedures
Assist during emergency situations as required
Complete basic administrative tasks such as filing, mail handling, and documentation support
Move equipment, stock, and supplies as requested
Manage waste safely from collection to authorised disposal points
Work closely with Front of House colleagues and wider hospital teams
Comply with hospital policies, confidentiality, health and safety, and equality standards
Undertake any other reasonable duties to support patient services
Key Skills / Qualifications:
Previous experience in a service role (healthcare experience is desirable but not essential)
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a caring, empathetic approach
Professional, calm, and approachable manner
Excellent organisation and attention to detail
Ability to remain composed under pressure and manage competing priorities
Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a wider hospital team
Minimum GCSEs (or equivalent
Physically able to stand, walk, and move items as required within the role
