General Manager Network Systems

Melbourne Full time

Job Expectations

We have an exciting opportunity at nbn for a General Manager Network Systems. This role will report to the Chief Technology Officer.

A bit about your role
As the General Manager Network Systems, you will define and deliver nbn’s long‑term network management systems strategy, shaping how our networks are monitored, controlled and evolved over time. You will serve as the architect of the network systems roadmap, integrating innovation, emerging technologies and enterprise priorities to support sustainable growth and maintain competitiveness. With a clear focus on end‑to‑end transformation, you will guide the organisation beyond incremental change, ensuring our systems remain resilient, scalable and fit for the future.

In this people‑led role, you will work closely with senior leaders and key stakeholders to ensure strong governance, effective risk management and thoughtful resource allocation across all network systems programs. You will lead the development and continuous refinement of a ten‑plus‑year strategy, aligning it with broader enterprise roadmaps and upstream dependencies. A critical part of your remit will be addressing end‑of‑life risks for key assets, balancing long‑term horizons with the practical realities of delivery timelines.

A bit about you
You bring a deep telco background and strong technical experience across network management systems, element management systems or related domains. You are a capable and inclusive people leader who enjoys working alongside highly skilled teams, combining technical credibility with a collaborative leadership style. Your experience allows you to move comfortably across complex technical environments while translating system strategy into clear, business‑relevant narratives that resonate with senior stakeholders.

You listen carefully, influence thoughtfully and communicate with purpose, particularly in high‑visibility forums where buy‑in is essential. You are comfortable being hands‑on where needed, while maintaining a strategic, long‑term view.
