Job Summary: You will serve as a Senior Technical Software System Safety Subject Matter Expert in the NAWCAD Lakehurst SE & ALRE Group, Mission Operations and Integration Department, Engineering Integration Division, System Safety and Reliability and Maintainability Branch of NAVAIRWARCENADLKE.

Major Duties:

  • You will provide NAVAIR with the technical skills to plan Software Safety activities necessary to ensure compliance with MIL-STD-882E.
  • You will collaborate with technical warrant holders who share responsibility for identifying and evaluating Level of Rigor related tasking to ensure compliance with MIL-STD-882E.
  • You will guide Program Managers, Chief engineers, Principal for Safety’s (PFS), and contractors on Level of Rigor compliance efforts for both new acquisition efforts and change activity associated with legacy platforms.
  • You will provide primary System Safety support acting as Principal for Safety (PFS) for assigned programs.

Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the DP-04 (GS-12/13) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional General Engineer, performing some or all of the following duties: 1) Developing and implementing guidance for Naval Air Warfare Center Software Safety policy and processes and evaluate compliance of those for change activity associated with both legacy and new acquisition efforts; 2) Providing support to Naval Air Warfare Center programs and platforms' Principals for Safety (PFS) to aid in the development of software related System Safety Risk Assessments; 3) Providing guidance to Program Managers, Chief engineers, PFS's, and contractors on Level of Rigor compliance efforts for both new acquisition efforts and change activity associated with legacy platforms; 4) Developing clear contractual language that enables programs to successfully execute software safety activities; 5) Providing training across the command, identify skill gaps, and identify new and innovative tools needed to improve software safety across the DoW.
