Pay Rate: $17.75/hour plus an additional $4.93/hour for Health & Welfare.
Hours: 6:00 am - 4:30 pm/Floating Schedule

Job Summary

Responsible for all phases of mail production and distribution within the instructed guidelines and time-frames of the project manager/assistant project manager. Includes sorting, researching and delivering the mail to designated mail stops.

Primary Duties

  • Transfer incoming mail trays from loading dock to mail room in the morning.

  • Deliver outgoing mail to UPS, USPS, and FedEx (if applicable) trucks at 4 PM daily.

  • Sort and bundle mail for internal distribution and package appropriately for mailout.

  • Provide mail that is not properly coded to a supervisor, and keep work area clean and organized.

  • Process and prepare all incoming mail for internal delivery as required by PWS.   

Additional Responsibilities

  • If required at site, consolidate mail for IRS posts of duty to be sent at the end of the day.

  • Responsible for performing job in safe manner, with concern for others and a desire to increase production If needed, process machinable mail (folding, inserting, sealing, and opening)

  • Follow HAZMAT procedures for handling potentially hazardous mail. Process accountable mail utilizing accountable mail tracking system, and process unidentifiable accountable mail

  • May require opening and reading mail and forward to appropriate location

  • May require processing IMDDS shipments; Meter mail daily.

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Certification(s)

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) preferred.

  • One-year experience in related field, preferred.

  • Experience working in a mail center, preferred.

  • Must be able to pass extensive government background, criminal and drug screening processes to meet current ServiceSource and/or government eligibility requirements that apply or become applicable to this position required.  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to perform routine tasks on special class mail.

  • Must be able to work on routine and repetitive tasks for long periods with minimum supervision.

  • Ability to make minor decisions regarding mail issues/questions.

  • Knowledge in UPS and Federal Express shipping and procedures.

  • Knowledge of U.S Postal regulations in the process of dealing with incoming, outgoing, certified, registered, insured and express mail.

  • Knowledge in operating various mailroom machines.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
