The Integration Lead is responsible for enterprise-wide ownership of SAP integration execution to enable secure, scalable, and reusable integrations across SAP and non SAP systems, supporting S/4HANA and cloud platforms under defined governance, security, and performance standards‑SAP systems, supporting S/4HANA and cloud platforms under defined governance, security, and performance standards.

Goal of function:

Own the SAP integration strategy and execution across the enterprise, ensuring secure, scalable, and reusable integrations that enable end-to-end business processes across SAP and non-SAP systems. Provide leadership for API-led connectivity, data exchange, and event-driven patterns to support S/4HANA and cloud platforms while complying with governance, security, and performance standards and Data Privacy.

Organization:

The function incumbent reports to: SAP Center of Excellence - SAP COE Lead

Tasks:

  • Lead Application Maintenance and Development activities, ensuring seamless integration between S/4HANA and internal/external systems using SAP Business Technology Platform Integration Suite (IS).

  • Lead L2/L3 support for integration interfaces and middleware components.

  • Validate and Architect the Integration design and Solutions

  • Manage incident resolution, root cause analysis (RCA), and defect remediation.

  • Provide governance for enhancements and Recommend Best Practices.

  • Ensure SLA adherence and optimize interface performance.

  • Lead and mentor the integration team members.

  • Provide effort estimation, resource planning, and status reporting

  • Collaborate with functional and technical teams for end-to-end delivery

Secondary Tasks:

  • Coach and mentor integration developers; perform design/code reviews and promote best practices.

  • Drive automation for build and deployment (CI/CD) of integration artifacts.

  • Partner with Basis, Security, and Data teams on performance tuning, identities, and data quality controls.

  • Lead complex cutovers and hypercare for integration-heavy releases.

  • Evaluate emerging SAP/BTP integration capabilities and recommend adoption roadmaps.

  • Contribute to vendor RFPs and SoW reviews for integration tooling and services.​

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Interface availability and performance SLAs (throughput, latency, error rate).

  • Defect density and mean time to detect/resolve (MTTD/MTTR) for integration incidents.

  • Deployment success rate and lead time for changes (CI/CD).

  • Reusability/adoption of standardized integration assets and APIs.

  • Compliance with security and data governance controls (e.g., SoD, PII handling).                       

Qualifications, experience, know-how, and skills critical for success:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

  • 12+ years of SAP integration experience, with at least 4+ years on SAP BTP Integration Suite.

  • Strong experience integrating SAP S/4HANA with SAP and non-SAP systems.

  • Hands-on expertise in BTP-IS, API Management, and middleware architecture.

  • Experience in SAP S/4HANA-BTP-IS Integration, Development & Maintenance of environments.

  • Proven experience in leading offshore teams and Co-Ordinating Onsite and near-shore teams.

  • SAP BTP or Integration Suite certification (MUST).

  • SAP PI/PO, SAP Cloud Integration (CPI), SAP BTP Integration Suite (API Management, Event Mesh, Integration Advisor).

  • EDI Integration experience dealing with ANSI X12, EDIFACT, EDICOM. Dealing with 3PL integrations.

  • Experience using Groovy Script and JavaScript.

  • API-first and event-driven integration patterns; security (OAuth2, SAML, TLS/SSL).

  • IDoc/RFC/ALE, OData/REST/SOAP; message mapping, error handling, retries, and monitoring.

  • DevOps/CI-CD for SAP integration artifacts; Git, Jenkins/Azure DevOps, transport automation.

  • SAP ChaRM or Cloud ALM for change and transport control

  • SAP S/4HANA and 3rd Party integration (IDoc, OData, SOAP, RFC, REST, EDI)

  • Life Sciences Industry experience (preferred).

  • Exposure to GXP standards.

  • Fluent English; additional European language a plus.

  • Proficiency with SAP Solution Manager/Cloud ALM, Interface Monitoring (e.g., SAP Application Interface Framework/PAI), and log/metric tools; working knowledge of Azure/AWS services for connectivity.

  • S/4HANA core processes (O2C, P2P/S2P, M2D, R2R), SAP Ariba, SuccessFactors, and common non-SAP SaaS endpoints.

Willingness to work with global teams across time zones; occasional travel; support critical releases as needed.
