YOUR CHALLENGE

General description

The FX & Precious Metals Specialist is a key member of the Private Banking Sales (Singapore) – FX & Precious Metals team in the Singapore, responsible for the sales and execution of FX and precious metals.

In this role, the primary responsibilities include generating and growing revenues by developing innovative product ideas and designing customised hedging, investment, and liquidity strategies using FX instruments. This role also requires the ensuring of fast and accurate execution of FX orders, while managing operational risks. Further, the individual shall ensure that a high quality of service is rendered to the Bank’s Direct Access Clients (DACs) and provide market insights as required. The role also requires collaborating closely with Relationship Managers and Investment Advisors to address the FX and precious metals needs of clients, including ensuring seamless trade execution, market insight delivery, and value-added service propositions.

The FX & Precious Metals Specialist reports to the Head of Private Banking Sales (Singapore) – FX & Precious Metals.

Key features of the position

People management

  • Contribute to the strengthening of the team spirit and the fostering of a collaborative work environment

  • Build highly impactful relationships with global and regional stakeholders across functions in the Bank

Client management (internal & external)

  • Drive the end-to-end management of FX products (spot, forwards, options, structured products – AC/DC, TARF, and FX structured notes), from ideation and recommendations to pricing and lifecycle management, with a strong focus on investment performance and client outcomes

  • Provide proactive FX advisory services to front staff and DACs, providing actionable market insights, customised trading strategies, and robust risk management strategies tailored to individual client risk profiles and market conditions

  • Ensure the timely and accurate quoting and execution of FX orders, while managing operational risks effectively

  • Present curated market ideas and product variants during the Morning Meetings and in Group Head meetings, ensuring alignment with local demand and compliance standards

  • Conduct periodic market updates and educational workshops for Relationship Managers and Investment Advisors on FX developments impacting UHNW clients in the region

  • Regularly consult with front representatives to be kept updated of clients’ needs/demands and take appropriate measures to fulfil them, where relevant

Business management

  • Support the team’s financial and strategic objectives and operational goals, driving business outcomes and results

  • Partner closely with product development teams and trading desks globally to customise offerings that reflect to regional market dynamics

  • Identify opportunities to enhance functional efficiency and productivity, proposing process improvements and workflow optimisations, where relevant/appropriate

  • Meet all legal, regulatory, and compliance standards/requirements

  • Adhere to the standards and expectations outlined in the relevant user manuals and guidelines

  • Demonstrate appropriate values and behaviours including, but not limited to standards on honesty and integrity, due care and diligence, fair dealing (treating customers fairly), management of conflicts of interest, competence and continuous development, adequate risk management, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations

Professional & technical

  • Relevant higher educational and professional background in finance, economics, business administration, or related field; advanced qualifications (e.g. CFA, CAIA, FRM) highly desirable

  • 7-10 years of experience, specifically in FX sales, trading, or advisory roles within private banking/wealth management, preferably with exposure to UHNW clients

  • In-depth understanding of cash FX, OTC derivatives (vanilla and structured), precious metals, and FX structured notes

  • Demonstrable track record of generating FX revenues in a client-advisory setting

  • Strong understanding of the use of electronic pricing tools and dealing systems

  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with fluency in English; Business Mandarin would be an advantage

  • Strong commercial judgement, business acumen and a broad understanding of the financial markets and products

Regulatory

  • MAS licensed representative

  • CACS 1 & 2, FMRP, RES 12B, CM-EIP and CM-SIP, or CM-CMP

  • Familiarity with regulatory expectations and requirements

  • Understanding of cross border rules and regulations
