Job Summary: You will serve as a FUTURE OPERATIONS PLANNER (NATO) located in the staff of Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Europe (CNE)/Commander U.S. Naval Forces Africa (CNA), in Naples, Italy.

Major Duties:

  • You will maintain synchronization and alignment of US maritime planning efforts to NATO planning efforts.
  • You will serve as the authoritative source of US maritime force planning, contribution, and employment to NATO deliberate and crisis planning efforts.
  • You will prepare and present NATO plan reviews and briefs.
  • You will coordinate with relevant NATO headquarters to determine mutual support requirements during exercises and training.
  • You will design, develop, and conduct wargames that support NATO Maritime planning and operations.

Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-13) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing technical expertise on NATO political-military interaction, NATO maritime command and control, and NATO joint operation command and control; 2) Advising on US maritime force planning, contribution, and employment to NATO deliberate and crisis planning efforts; 3) Developing and validating US assumptions during NATO joint and maritime planning in accordance with planning doctrine; and 4) Developing and presenting operational, planning, policy and contingency response matters to senior military/civilian leaders to ensure timely and responsive command decisions.
