What is the Role?
Your role presents an exciting opportunity to be part of a high performing team within the Finance & Tax Competency as Functional Consultant SME – ERP Finance & Tax. This is a challenging role where you will be responsible for delivering Next-Gen SAP S4 HANA functional solutions in a complex ERP environment. The functional consultant – S4 HANA Finance SME (subject matter expert) will be accountable for the solution delivery of all S4 HANA Finance & Tax projects/use cases for business, working along with natural team such as S4 HANA Finance Product Managers, Solution Architects, Functional Analysts and business process owners/users to ensure robust solutions are built and deployed in the optimal manner
What we need from you
Key Accountabilities
Very Strong SAP and S/4 HANA Finance implementation experience with expertise in Finance and Tax areas. Need to handle project estimations for finance scope, coaching the broader functional team and leading the team to deliver the agreed Finance & Tax functional solution scope for complex next-gen ERP transformation programs
Work closely with SAP functional analysts, project delivery leads and business users to translate finance requirements covering legal, fiscal, and regulatory scope into system configurations in line with project delivery scope
Take accountability for end-to-end solution delivery which starts from building solution as per design standards from design authorities, testing of solution, managing cut-over and closely working with business till solution stabilization in production environments and until handover to operations
Work in close collaboration with the Finance and Tax Design Authorities to ensure new emerging functionality is understood and that implementation experiences from business deployments are incorporated into the overarching S/4 enterprise design
Function as a key collector of product gaps and improvement opportunities, appropriately document these items, and flow these opportunities along with a value case to the appropriate route with SAP (Oil & Gas Consortium, CIO office, Architecture, other SAP engagement bodies as appropriate)
Functional Excellence & Governance
Implement and continuously improve the Functional Excellence agenda by applying Shell methods, standards, and quality assurance practices
Partner closely with the Finance Design Authority to ensure emerging SAP and S/4HANA functionality is understood, assessed, and appropriately adopted
Ensure alignment with Finance architecture standards, design principles, and best practices across all deliveries
Contribute to the evolution of Finance & Tax delivery standards and ways of working
Stakeholder Engagement
Serve as the IT capability face for ERP Finance & Tax across a defined business or regional scope
Engage regularly with senior Finance and Business leaders (VP-1/VP-2), building credibility and trust through strong delivery outcomes
Translate technology‑enabled vision into tangible business outcomes, influencing stakeholders through clear communication and delivery confidence
What you’ll bring
Senior SAP Finance SME with extensive years of experience, including deep ECC and S/4HANA Finance expertise and a strong track record delivering large, complex ECC-to-S/4HANA transformation programs
Proven ability to lead business discussions, manage delivery scope and estimates, plan and guide functional teams, and influence wider finance stakeholders to ensure successful ERP outcomes and value delivery
Strong integration and architecture capability across on‑premise, cloud, and legacy systems, with up-to-date knowledge of ERP, finance applications, and next‑generation technologies, and the ability to drive simplification and unified design across multiple businesses and ERPs
Strong commercial mindset with a clear focus on business value realization
Ability to shape, articulate, and deliver technology‑enabled visions into successful business outcomes
Gravitas and excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence senior Finance stakeholders
Strong collaboration and partnership skills, particularly with Finance process owners and Design Authorities
Resilience, courage, and the ability to constructively challenge and manage business expectations
Comfortable working independently under minimal supervision, applying established frameworks while managing ambiguity where precedents are limited
Active contributor to high‑performing, outcome‑driven IT teams
