How does this role contribute to our collective success?
The FP&A Lead - Reinsurance acts as the business partner to the Head of AXIS Reinsurance and underwriters in the division by providing dedicated financial planning and analysis.
What will you do in this role?
Co-ordinate and analyze monthly and quarterly management information for the division including;
Comparison of underwriting results to forecast and budget and prior period
MD&A style narrative report
Internal management reporting including production reports vs. budget and prior year at division and business unit levels
Metric reporting
G&A Expenses
Other reports and analysis as may be deemed necessary from time to time
Provide meaningful analysis of the monthly and quarterly production data and produce reports to support the business in the understanding and development of the plans
Support underwriting functions, in developing and understanding of their strategy, annual plans and monthly / quarterly forecasts including the development of underwriting actions in line with strategic objectives
Co-ordinate, analyze and challenge the overall plan and monthly / quarterly forecasts in context of the overall strategy and provide recommendations to senior management
Prepare presentations for quarterly board updates, leadership meetings and rating agencies
Develop and enhance management reporting capabilities
Assist in the evaluation of new business initiatives and strategic opportunities
Interface with group finance to support monthly, quarterly and year end close functions, data requirements and inquiries
Support the formation of the business decisions and that these decisions are grounded on sound financial criteria
Understand the division’s unique business issues and challenges when formulating decision making
Provide strategic forward looking financial information, perspectives and recommendations for business decisions and long-term objectives and strategies
Work with Operations, Pricing, and Reserving and other partners to provide Finance support to key business initiatives
About You:

What you need to have:
At least 10 years progressively responsible insurance / reinsurance accounting, budgeting, planning, financial reporting and business partnering experience
Educated to degree level and the holder of a recognized professional qualification preferred
Reinsurance business and product knowledge and commercial awareness
Experience in all aspects of forecasting, reserving and accounting for Reinsurance business involving complex transactions and systems
Excellent teamwork and communication skills with business partners and underwriters
Highly numerate with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
A proven ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure with ability to respond to changing priorities
Understanding the role of Finance and other Group functions and their interaction with the Reinsurance units
Excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
Proficient with MS Office products including developing presentations and reports for management
Experience of reporting and finance systems including Anaplan and Power BI
Solution and delivery oriented, with a flexible outlook
Good team player with the ability to contribute to the development of AXIS

In this role, you will typically be required to:

What we offer:
For this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range of $185,000 to $220,000 (New York). Your salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors including your specific experience and work location.
In addition, you will be offered competitive target incentive compensation, with awards based on overall corporate and individual performance.
