Foreperson - Telecom Construction

You are a Foreperson with experience in construction and telecommunications/utility installation. You’ll work independently or with a team to execute project plans, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards. Responsibilities include managing safety, performance, and quality, while delegating tasks to field staff, contractors, and tradespeople.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates leadership in health, safety, and environmental protections on the project

  • Applies the requirements of the Project Specific Safety Program (PSSP) to promote overall compliance of Ledcor HS&E standards, applicable OH&S/OSHA Acts, regulations and codes with all employees and subcontractors on the project

  • Leads a team of 4 - 6 employees in the planning, execution, and billing of a project

  • Trains, supports and offers guidance to new hires

  • Ensures project schedules are met while maintaining company standards in regard to quality protocols

  • Ensures that all tailboards, timesheets, driver’s logbooks, and billing are handed in on time

  • Ensures compliance with municipality hours of work, traffic protection, environmental standards, traffic bylaws, and restoration standards

  • Manages escalations and provides exceptional customer service to clients related to quality, work performed, standards, etc.

  • Oversees all client specific requirements based on contract requirements

Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of cable installation and removal techniques, including fiber optic cable and various cable types with proper handling procedures

  • 2-5 years of utility construction experience in a leadership role overseeing multiple project locations

  • Strong understanding of construction practices, including OSP, field concepts, and industry standards

  • Hands-on experience operating industry-specific equipment such as Asher trucks, directional drills, Vac trucks, small excavators, skid steers, backhoes, and road cut saws

  • Working knowledge of health, safety, and environmental protection practices as they apply to construction

  • Proven ability to lead teams, direct work, and supervise subcontractors effectively

  • Strong grasp of construction documents, utility plans, contracts, costs, and budgets

  • Excellent organizational skills, with experience managing workloads, multiple priorities, and deadlines

  • Aptitude for learning new technology and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook)

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Familiarity with large telecommunications providers' protocols and practices in the Ontario market

  • Ability to read and interpret civil construction drawings and utility locates

  • Must have a valid G driver’s license and a clean driver abstract

    Working Conditions

    • Travel to various sites across Ontario is required

    • Working outdoors in various weather conditions

    • Able to meet the physical requirements of the position which involves sitting, standing, bending, lifting (up to 75 pounds), in confined spaces and in all types of weather conditions (rain, snow, heat etc.)

    • Applicants that reside in the St. Andrew/Cornwall, ON area will be given preference due to the location of this project

    Compensation

    $37.41 - $43.66 per hour

    This is the applicable wage range for this position. Individuals will be assigned a base wage within this range based on trade certification and/or apprenticeship level, industry experience, and work location.

    Remote, site-based positions may be eligible for additional incentives including but not limited to travel and accommodation allowances.
