About the opportunity
The role of the Forensic Clinical Specialist (FCS) is to build capacity and support best practice within Mercy Mental Health & Wellbeing Services Staff, provide forensic mental health consultancy experience. This position will provide a resource to staff to support and enhance the service response for consumers presenting with multiple complex presentations including serious mental illness, substance abuse issues, forensic history and high risk behaviors. The FCS position will provide timely advice, specialist assessment, and secondary consultation, develop and implement training, and introduce high level evidence based risk assessment and risk management tools and processes. It will be a key contact point for justice / forensic referrers, Mental Health Community Support Services (MHCSS) and MMH and will support a collaborative approach to sharing and transfer of care for this consumer groups.
ABOUT YOU:
Registered with APHRA as a Psychologist with eligibility for endorsement as a Clinical psychologist or
Registration with APHRA as an Occupational Therapist with a graduate or post graduate qualification in Occupational Therapy or
Registration with APHRA as a Registered Nurse undergraduate psychiatric nursing program or a Post Graduate Psychiatric / mental health nursing qualification
Approved Degree in Social Work with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
At least 5 years post graduate clinical experience in relevant community mental health settings
Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2014, Crimes (Mental Impairment and Unfitness to be Tried Act 1997, Sentencing Act 1991), and other relevant legislation
A current unrestricted Victorian Driver’s License and ability to work a vehicle
Desirable
For Psychologists, membership of the APS College of Forensic / Clinical Psychologist is desirable
Experience in the Forensic Mental Health field.
