Major Duties:

  • Clean and sanitize dishroom, pot and pan areas to include countertops, tray return, dishwashing machine, dish rack, tray return, scrapping sinks, and pot and pan machines.
  • Set up salad bar in dining room, and replenish salad items as necessary during meal service.
  • Assemble ingredients and prepare a variety of cooked and uncooked vegetable, fruit, and gelatin salads using computer generated recipe worksheets.
  • Manually or using mechanical equipment, wash heavy pots, pans, dishes, trays and serviceware from the kitchen, dining room, catering functions and patient care units.
  • Combine ingredients in accordance with recipe, using additional ingredients provided by the ingredient section, if necessary.
  • Cover salads, label and store salads in accordance with standard operating procedures and sanitation regulations.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Food Service Worker ~ without more than normal supervision: The ability to perform the common duties of a Food Service Worder. Follow recipes and combine ingredients for typical salads and other uncooked food products using precise measurements and weights. Cook necessary ingredients, i.e., pasta or potatoes prior to mixing into salads. Able to follow safety and food service sanitation procedures to sweep, mop, clean, and sanitize work stations and food service areas. Work under supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Other Than Blueprint Reading) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Work Practices (Including Keeping Things Neat, Clean, and in Order) Physical Effort: Work is performed on hard surfaces and in areas that require employee to stand, stoop, and bend. Frequently is required to lift or move objects weighing up to 60 pounds, e.g., when moving trays of completed salads and/or moving pans of macaroni/potatoes. Working Conditions: Work is performed predominantly in uncomfortable, warm and noisy kitchen, and sometimes in dining area. The work involves continuous walking and standing on concrete floors. The incumbent is exposed to minor cuts, bruises, burns and scalds.
