Job Summary: About the Position: The primary purpose for the establishment of this job is to perform variety of food service work such as serving food to customers and replenishing food and drink displays. The position also involves cleaning various surfaces and operating a cash register to check out customers. The position is located at Martin Army Community Hospital, Fort Moore, GA. This position requires a monthly rotating shift schedule that may include night, weekend, and/or holiday work.

Major Duties:

  • Serve food cafeteria style by placing menu items into uniform portions on trays and/or plates.
  • Clean dishes, pots and pans, and utensils either manually or by mechanical dishwasher.
  • Monitor food distribution, ensuring that meals are delivered to the correct recipients.
  • Replenish self-serve food service bar for customer convenience.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Food Service Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. - I have the ability to perform common tasks of a Food Service Worker. I can perform cleaning such as scraping, soaking, scouring, and scrubbing cooking utensils to include mixing bowls pots and pans; stocking food and drink displays for self service. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Other Than Blueprint Reading) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Work Practices PHYSICAL EFFORT: The employee exerts moderate physical effort when lifting or moving objects weighing up to 40 pounds. The work requires pushing heavy carts and trucks in unloading, storing, and delivering supplies. Use powered cleaning equipment. Requires continuous standing, walking, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in a kitchen environment with constant exposure to steam and heat from cooking and the dishwasher. Environment often uncomfortably hot, noisy and humid. Danger of slipping on freshly mopped floors or on floors where food has be spilled. Danger of cuts or serious burns due to exposure to hot liquids, sharp blades, and hot surfaces. Exposed to constant temperature changes when going from kitchen to refrigerators and freezers. Work area has adequate lighting.
