The Opportunity:

As a Food Service Associate Manager, you will support the mission of Student Affairs. Under the administrative direction of General Manager of the Global Scholars Hall, the Associate Manager position is regularly required to work independently providing leadership and supervision of daily operations at Einstein Bagel and The Market on Cougar Way ensuring high quality delivery of food and service delivery.
 

With annual gross sales of $4.1 million, The Market on Cougar Way and Einstein Bagels serve 1500-1800 residential students and the broader campus community, providing over 13,000 meals and snacks weekly.
 

This position is responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management of 70-85 student staff, fostering student development and operational excellence.
 

This position leads daily operations including customer service, cashiering, maintaining food safety, sanitation standards, product procurement and inventory, while cultivating a positive and inclusive workplace culture.

Additional Information:

This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.

Monthly Salary:

$4,508.70 - $6,763.06 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in hotel and restaurant administration, institutional management, business administration or closely related field and two (2) years of supervisory/management experience which included planning and budgeting. Additional qualifying food service work experience and/or vocational training in quantity food preparation may be substituted, year-for-year, for college education.

  • Previous experience supervising multi-unit operations that reflect operational depth and breadth in scope and concept.

  • Strong leadership skills, organizational abilities, and supervisory experience are a must for this position.

  • Experience developing and maintaining operational policies and procedures.

  • Experience administering budgets, monitoring expenses, ensuring equipment maintenance and maintaining inventories.

  • Must possess a Washington State Food Handler’s Permit or be able to obtain within 14 days of employment.

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Point of Sale systems and associated reporting tools.

  • Experience with web-based scheduling software.

  • Experience in market environment.

  • Experience with menu and inventory management software.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Experience managing bargaining unit employees.

  • Strong demonstrated computer knowledge.

  • Experience with food cost control.

  • Experience with labor cost control.
