Job Summary: About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and is located at the Chili's Grill and Bar on Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan.

Major Duties:

  • Assists the on-duty restaurant manager and the general manager in overseeing the operation of the front of the house (FOH) functions of Chili's Grill and Bar, with emphasis on ensuring smooth operation of greeting, seating, serving, and receiving payments from customers and ensuring quality and timeliness of service is within standards. Investigates and resolves food and beverage quality and service complaints. Keep management abreast of issuer requiring supervisor attention. Reports progress, delays, or any other pertinent customer service issues to the shift manager. Completes all end-of-shift documentation and submits to the shift manager. Serves as a worker leader for hosts/hostesses, bussers, cashier-checkers, and To-Go staff and assists with the wait staff. Provides day-to-day guidance and work assignments. Relays instructions from the managerial staff for work assignments and other issues. Ensures work is started on time and sets the work pace. Ensures that work-site materials and tools are available. Ensures employees follow security, safety, and housekeeping duties and work is in compliance with Chili's standard methods and procedures. Tracks hours of work. Serves as first point of contact for employee disputes and attempts to resolve them informally. Refers those that cannot be resolved to senior management. Trains hosts/hostesses, cashier-checkers, and To-Go staff, ensuring training meets the Chili's standards and results in compliance with those standards and procedures outlined in the standards. Demonstrates work methods and provides work-related guidance and training. May be required to assist in general orientation and other training. Functions as senior host/hostess on duty during assigned shift, filling in and performing host/hostess duties as required, particularly for large groups and protocol scenarios. Qualifying Experience: Must be a high school graduate. Must have experience in and knowledge of Chili's cashier-checker/hostess duties in which the applicant has demonstrated the ability to perform satisfactorily at the grade level of the position. Must be certified as a Chili's in-house trainer for the assigned areas. Must be able to speak, read, write, communicate, and understand the English language. Must possess experience which has required skill in dealing with the public. Must have the ability to stand for a prolonged period of time. Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 30 pounds. Must be able to work shift-schedules, weekends, and holidays. Must be able to obtain Food Handler's Certification.
