Flight Physics is responsible for the design and the characterization of all military aircraft programs along their product lifecycle. We use numerical simulations and testing to understand the aircraft behaviour and to create and deliver aircraft representative data for flight performance, aerodynamics, structural dynamics, mass properties, acoustics and vibration.

 

A vacancy for a "Flight Physics - PMTD (Process, Methods, Tools and Data) Integration Manager" (d/f/m) has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space in Flight Physics. The successful applicant will join the Integration and Strategy domain within Flight Physics Centre of Competence (CoC) is a German-Spanish engineering organisation in Airbus Defence and Space – Air Power Engineering. The organisation is responsible for the flight physics deliverables for all Air Power programmes and digitalization & technology.

As Flight Physics Integration Manager you interface with many other stakeholders in the Program,  the other Centers of Competence in Engineering and the Chief Engineering Office, as well as with Commercial, Programme and Services organizations. 
 

In this role you will join the Digitalisation & Technology team and apply your knowledge and experience in process, methods and tool development to push Flight Physics capabilities to the next level of digitalisation. With this, the job holder contributes to increase efficiency, effectiveness and competitiveness of Flight Physics CoC established in the Flight Physics Technology and Digital strategies.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Management of the Flight Physics Process, Methods, Tools and Data (PMTD) portfolio. Special focus will need to be put on the CoC deliveries are executed on time, cost and quality. Additionally, the integration manager needs to ensure the portfolio sustainability, growth and value is properly communicated.

  • Drive the Flight Physics PMT process convergence and execute it in the agreed terms. Reflect on the ways of working and continuously improve as needed.

  • Lead the PMTD Integrated Product Team (IPT) - Flight Physics to ensure Flight Physics activities and priorities are captured by TAXD.

  • Drive the Digital transformation of Flight Physics by coordinating transverse initiatives that push Air Power competitiveness. A non-complete list includes Air Power Digital Chapter and Digital Strategies. Become the Flight Physics interface to TAX, Digital and TADX.

  • Become the Data officer for Flight Physics to ensure adherence to data policies and support the CoC to leverage the value we get from the available data.

  • Ensure process and document referential management aligning with internal and external flight physics stakeholders.

  • Development of integrated solutions to support the end-to-end processes digitalisation and digital transformation of Air Power - Engineering

  • Develop, prove, validate and deploy disruptive ways of solving problems in flight physics with a holistic approach. Challenge the status quo.

Required Skills and Experiences:

Must have competences:

  • University degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics or equivalent.

  • Experience in managing projects in a complex and international environment of minimum 5 years.

  • At least 3 years professional experience in programming & data science in development and engineering areas.

  • Communication and influencing skills to be an effective leader are required for this position. Especially important for aligning and convincing both internal and external flight physics stakeholders.

Additionally valued competences:

  • PMP or other project management accreditation would be a plus.

  • System Engineering and Model Based System Engineering would be a plus

  • Experience on continuous improvement and relevant process management experience are a plus. Especially Green or Black belt certifications would be appreciated.

  • Previous experience in Machine learning modeling for Engineering applications would be a plus.

  • Previous experience in Python and C++ and state-of -the art data science and AI frameworks are a plus.

  • Previous experience with front end and database development would be a plus

  • Previous experience on CFD & FEM would be a plus.

  • Previous experience on High Performance Computing and Linux server administration would be a plus.

  • Strong desire to work, learn and grow as part of a digitalization and technology team.
