About the role
We are looking for a Fleet Superintendent to join our Fleet Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe, reliable, and cost‑effective management of assigned vessels, working closely with ship staff, internal stakeholders, and external partners.
You will play a key role in ensuring vessels operate in full compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, while continuously improving performance, efficiency, and collaboration across the fleet.
Key responsibilities :
Vessel operations & safety
Oversee day‑to‑day technical and operational management of assigned vessels
Ensure timely and appropriate support to vessels on operational and technical matters
Maintain a strong safety culture and ensure safety remains the top priority in all operations
Conduct vessel visits and inspections and produce clear, actionable reports
Ensure compliance with international and local regulations, class requirements, and certification standards
Act promptly in the event of incidents, casualties, or delays and keep relevant stakeholders informed
Performance & continuous improvement
Monitor vessel performance and initiate corrective actions where needed
Drive energy efficiency initiatives and support delivery of agreed KPIs
Identify and propose innovations, cost efficiencies, and operational improvements
Prepare reports and present insights to management and stakeholders
Perform technical inspections (in the job, yearly 15% travel involved)
Budgeting & cost control
Prepare and manage budgets covering maintenance, repairs, stores, modifications, and dry‑dockings
Monitor costs and explain material deviations transparently and constructively
Ensure sound business and economic evaluations support decision‑making
Dry‑docking, repairs & procurement
Plan and coordinate inspections and execution of dry‑dockings
Compile dry‑dock specifications and oversee execution
Manage repairs and modifications within agreed budgets and timelines
Collaborate with Procurement and Supply Chain to ensure timely, cost‑effective purchasing of spares and stores
Approve requisitions, orders, and invoices within area of responsibility
People & collaboration
Support the effective performance of crewing activities
Contribute to performance feedback, development, and appraisals for Masters and Chief Engineers
Work closely with Fleet Directors, Ocean Execution, Network Planning, and other stakeholders
Share knowledge and best practices across fleet groups to support continuous learning
What you bring :
Experience in ship or fleet management, marine engineering, or a related maritime field
Solid understanding of vessel operations, safety management, and regulatory compliance
Comfort working with budgets, cost control, and performance data
Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate across functions and cultures
A structured approach to problem‑solving, with room for flexibility and different working styles
Willingness to visit vessels as required
